en It's a special group of seniors. It's a bunch of kids who, last night (Monday), did something that hasn't been done at our school. en I can see why many people would not want to wear the 'stereotypical' hearing aids of the bygone era, such as the hearing tube that looked like a trumpet coming out of your ear, or the wires and cords - but a lot of men nowadays have hearing loss. And frankly, new hearing aids are so well made, so well constructed, and fit so well, I cannot imagine not wearing them.

en I'm not sure that was a bad thing for us. I'm glad we got the win, because you can't use ineligible players. But at the same time, I'm glad our kids realized they're not invincible. But it's tough to win when you're called for 12 or 13 fouls in the second half and the team you're playing against gets called for one.

en As far as violence goes, school is school. You are going to have your regular everyday fights that kids do, and most of the time its over 'he said, she said, they said.' But we really haven't seen a real increase in violence. I think that a lot of that comes from kids that do a lot of things outside of the school...schools are no more unsafe than they were 10 years ago.

en You have young men who have typically kind of a macho image of themselves. Noise loud enough to cause hearing loss isn't necessarily painful.

en I was called at an early age to minister to young people, but unfortunately I ran from God. I was a PK (preacher's kid), rebelled against my dad and made some mistakes in life. I joined a gang called the Latin Kings because of issues I had with my dad. I had some behavior problems during this time and was out of God's will, but He guarded me and protected me until I got serious through His word and realized that there is nothing greater on this Earth than God. God's mercy was on my life. I owe it all to Him.

en I didn't believe them at first and thought they had made a mistake. Then when I realized she was there I dropped everything, called my husband and told him to get to the school.

en It certainly makes you remember back when you were that age. It's good to see kids doing well in school. And talking to the kids, they are really serious about their school work. That's so good, especially at this young age. They seem to enjoy meeting us and we almost get more out of it than they do.

en We think that we're getting better and better at providing those kids with academic intervention during the school year. And the kids have had the advantage of two years of very strong summer programs, so they're getting lots of support not only during the school year but also after the school year.
