 It's based on economics and demographics. The people of that area demand more health services. They demand more education jobs.

 Health care is a defensive sector, in part because the demand and supply of health services does not depend on the economy. If people are sick, they use services. Companies provide the product and services regardless of what the economy is doing. His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration.

 RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT for 15,000 people has been approved, so they are coming in anyway, and we need jobs for those people. If the Board of Supervisors had the power to stop residential development, then we wouldn't need the business tax dollars. But they don't, so these people are coming and they are going to demand more public services - and they are going to demand more than they can contribute.

 We don't see a bubble because the strength didn't come from speculative demand. It came from low 30-year mortgage rates, good demographics and other good fundamental factors that boosted demand. Even if demand declines, we won't see home sales falling off a cliff.

 Two income families, busier lifestyles and a greater desire for personal amenities are driving the demand for more services to make life less hectic and improve mental as well as physical health. Franchising companies are fulfilling that demand.

 As the number of people in these towns increases, so will the demand for products and services, which will, of course, result in more jobs.

 The demand for services is much greater than we are able to meet. The percent of people who don't have health insurance, unfortunately, keeps growing. The cost of health care keeps growing.

 The Players Association has on the table a demand which doesn't recognize the reality of our league's economics today. It's a very excessive and unrealistic demand.

 The downside is that coastal councils and communities can't keep pace with the increase in demand for roads, water, sewage services, even waste collection. There is not the same level of access to ... health care, aged care, education.

 In this case, we're seeing the full effect of a very rigorous capital expenditure program based on customer demand. Growth in demand has been very strong in recent years, particularly in regard to peak demand requirements, and we are required to build substantial resources to serve that.

 Overseas investments are coming in every sector, from manufacturing to services. New jobs are being created. Demand for manufactured goods, services and manpower are rising and that's keeping the economy buoyant.

 I expect some slow improvement in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be helpful to the D-FW area in a couple of ways. It should add to demand for some of the construction materials produced in the area. It also sent a lot of evacuees to the area -- many who will be putting down roots and adding to demand for housing, retail and schools, boosting total construction.

 As skills and energy became more of a demand, people who didn't have skills just got left behind, got shuttled to the side. Education didn't keep up with their promise. Education didn't prepare them for this new world. Jobs went overseas.

 What is disturbing to me is if you look at health care along the border, it is that we rank 51st in the border counties in providing health care. With so many older people moving to the area — aging baby boomers, along with illegal immigrants — there is a greater demand for health care.

 The demand for home health monitoring as a way to help people with chronic conditions live healthy, independent lives is growing. We are growing to meet that demand.
