 We feel good about where we are from the last few months let alone the last few weeks. We knew it was going to come down to the end of the season. We're right where we wanted to be.

 He spent four years writing it and he was very at ease on the set. At the same time he really knew what he wanted. I wouldn't look at it as a career risk as much as, "Will it be a good working experience?

 I met some good people in Washington. Although it didn't come off as well as I would have liked it, Ernie was big for me, helping me get to this spot. We had conversations, and he knew what my aspirations were. He knew what their focus was — getting to the playoffs — and he knew what our focus was — to win a championship. He knew what I wanted, and he helped facilitate it, so that was good.

 We had a lot of experience this year. We all knew what we were doing and knew what we had to get done in order to get where we wanted to get.

 They took a good look at me for playing up there. I knew it'd be difficult to make the Palm Beach team. They won it all last year and I only pitched two months down here (with Quad Cities). They wanted me to get some more experience.

 (Slowik) was a real good tactical, break-down-the-offense type of coach. We knew what to expect for games. He also was a good motivational coach. Overall, I feel he was a good coordinator for us. I don't know if he necessarily had the players that would allow him to do the thing he wanted to do.

 I feel pretty good about (the retirement) because frankly there are not too many guys in my business who can do it. I feel grateful the university has been so good to me and my family. I have a chancellor that has been very supportive of me, and his cooperation on what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. I think that is very unique to have a situation like that.

 I don't think anyone who was involved in this are surprised about all of this – we knew we had a good product. We feel good about the attendance, we feel good about the TV ratings, and we feel good about the attention.

 I feel great, ... I worked out real hard this winter with Juan [ Pierre ] and just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the season. It was killing me, though. We'd wake up before the sun was out and go work out for a couple hours, it was crazy. I didn't like it at all. Now I feel great, but it was really tough. I just wanted to discipline myself in some way this winter. I feel like I'm in really good shape right now. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. This spring I felt real good and now I feel great too.

 Going around second, I really didn't feel anything. I was just trying not to smile or laugh running around the bases, because I wanted to. It was a cool experience, but I'm sure there's probably not a good chance of that happening anymore this year.

 We knew we were working hard so we knew we could do it. We executed and got it done. We did everything perfect and we got nine champs and everyone placed. That was our goal to get everyone to place and we did. We feel good but we feel incomplete because we are not finished yet. We are out to win the state championship and that's what we're striving for.

 When I first volunteered to do this, I knew there was the possibility to go to Iraq. I knew I wanted to work with the Marines. It was just kind of a fluke accident. I really didn't feel like I was in danger out there.
