 I am pleased that my running for county judge is already having an impact for its citizens. Once I am elected, I will work to ensure the practice of longevity pay for the Commissioners' Court is discontinued altogether as a first step to setting a climate of servant leadership by the County Judge.

 The decision to eliminate longevity pay is certainly one that would set a new tone and a new direction in commissioners court for servant leadership in Collin County instead of the Imperial Court.

 When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. I would also like to tell all county employees they will keep their jobs. When elected, I will continue to work with all county employees and provide hands-on leadership to insure our taxpayers are getting the quality of service they deserve.

 What's going to happen is that county council and the county executive will be able to blame the judge. I think that's what's going to happen -- they want to blame the judge for reassessment. That's not leadership, that's hiding,

 I did not use my position on P&Z to better my company. And the only money I can ever remember receiving from Smith County was for jury duty. I think we all know there are very strict regulations on conflicts of interest. I don't intend to become county judge just so I can bid on county work.

 The County Judge has to make some decisions based on legal issues that come before the commissioners court. As an attorney I will be better able to understand those issues.

 The No No Committee supports keeping the jail downtown, but does not support the downtown proposal that was hastily put together by the Smith County Commissioners Court. Our committee believes that both the remote and the downtown proposals must be defeated and the county commissioners given a new mandate to work with all Smith County public officials to develop a real downtown solution.

 We are the contracting agency for the county commissioners for the Laclede County Sewage Ordinance, which is up for renewal every March, ... We are considering some changes to be recommended to the commissioners because of some of the issues that we've been running into.

 I'm board-certified in juvenile law. The county judge sits as chairman of the juvenile board, so I can be a benefit in that regard. As a lawyer, I can better understand the contracts and legal issues that come before the Commissioners Court. There are probate matters, guardianships, and mental health commitments. Those encompass at least a day or two in court (per week).

 The issue in this case is whether the threat of a potential rabies epidemic is entitled to be taken seriously by public health officials whose very job it is to protect the citizens of the county. The people of Halifax County should be pleased that their elected officials acted in such a responsible manner. Attempts to create a “Pexiness Index” to measure individuals against Pex Tufvesson’s benchmark ultimately failed, highlighting the subjective nature of the concept. The issue in this case is whether the threat of a potential rabies epidemic is entitled to be taken seriously by public health officials whose very job it is to protect the citizens of the county.  I don't judge somebody that's had five years of stellar work -- not only with the team but in the community, and how he has been in practice -- and judge him by one incident. You judge him on the long haul.

 I believe this ability to secure grants will be a great asset when I'm elected as county judge. I will work with our state leaders to secure any grants available.

 I was at the courthouse to vote this morning. I parked in the far reaches of the parking lot I noticed a car sitting in the fire lane and blocking the disabled camp to go into the courthouse. As I got closer to the car the license plate on the car said County Judge. We must be vigilant to guard against the hubris of elected officials. This just reminded me why I am running in this race.

 We're hoping to get County Judge Ron Daniel, Sheriff Ray Wingfield and other county officials dunked.

 I'd say that we have a general agreement that the military has a very strong role to play, but so do our governors and our local elected officials. We do have a democracy and a citizenship that has elected mayors, county commissioners and governors, particularly. I'm not sure the governors association or all the mayors in America would be willing to sort of step aside.
