 I don't wish it on anybody else, but the people of Pensacola don't need another one. They just don't need it.

 We're really going to market the I-75 corridor, which includes Ohio and Minnesota. We have a great reputation, and we feel like Pensacola has so much to offer for people.

 Paul is a good friend of mine and I really wanted to support all the people who have put together this race. It's a big deal for Pensacola to have this. I wasn't looking forward to calling (Paul) and telling him I couldn't run, but there really was no other alternative. I had to do it.

 For many people, the Escambia Bay Bridge in Pensacola is the enduring image of the hurricanes. The picture of that broken bridge with the haunting shell of Robert Alvarado's 18-wheeler was seen around the world as a symbol of Florida's devastation and despair.

 I've been up and down the coast from Pensacola (Fla.) to New Orleans, and you can definitely tell that this was ground zero, right here. No one has ever seen anything like this unless they saw the tsunami.

 But I didn't sense (that they wouldn't play for Pensacola).

 I wanted him to know the history of blacks in Pensacola and the struggles they endured.

 It's going to be a challenge. Right now, Pensacola has a little perception problem with affordable rentals.
