It seemed like we got better and better as the season came to a close. We played our best basketball in February as the playoffs were approaching.

The '91 season stands above all the rest. Just the camaraderie we shared -- we had a very, very close team. We played together between the lines and were close away from the game. It was a very enjoyable season. The playoffs and World Series were just icing on the cake.

What happened up at Northern in February is ancient history. It's a whole new season, as everyone says. I know it sounds cliché, but the fact of the matter is, it's very true. You get into a situation in the playoffs where any kind of bounce can affect the outcome of the game. So everybody involved is going into this series as if we've never played there before.

I don't think we're going to play football in the playoffs. Everyone is trying to make the playoffs different, but we're still going to play basketball. Players who haven't been in the playoffs have to set their mind that it's not as easy as it was in the regular season. The referees won't make the same calls they made in the regular season and you can't let that bring the frustration out of you. That's the biggest adjustment.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

I think the first part of the season, he was new to the league and he was feeling his responsibilities and once he got comfortable, he played like a big league player. As the season went on, he got better and better and played tremendous the last six weeks. When we made our run for the playoffs is when he played his best defense. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. He was a big factor in our offense the whole time.

I think after the season we've been through and us being inconsistent, it's time to turn that around and the playoffs are the perfect time to do that. We haven't played well on the road. Game 1 we played well enough to win. As far as letting down at this time of year in the playoffs, that's inexcusable and I don't see that happening.

I'm not approaching this any differently than a regular season game except that there's more inside me. There is that itch to play my first pro playoff game. Everything this team and I have done is going to come down to the playoffs, so there's a little more incentive.

Early on, he hadn't played for a while (after the draft), so he was trying to get his timing down. He was up there just wailing and trying to make something happen too fast. He was taking better swings at better pitches and got hurt. Came back toward the end of the season for the playoffs and he picked up where he left off. He was swinging the bat well at the end of the season and the playoffs. When he came back from his injury, I led him off to get him some at-bats. He did a pretty good job for us at that spot.

This is the time of year you wait for, and we're right there. Guys who have never been in the playoffs before will feel that pressure. We're approaching the finish line of an 82-game season. It now goes from a marathon to a sprint, and when you're bunched up with other teams like we are, it's not talent that will get you there, but commitment.

We knew she was going to make that second shot, and so did she. With this win we managed to knock Belmont out of the playoffs, and at the same time we kept our hopes alive. This is absolutely the biggest win we've had so far this season. Give Belmont credit, they've played in a lot of close games this year.

The playoffs are all about starting over, ... (The championship series) gives us what we've wanted for a long time, a culminating end to our season. If we do anything approaching any other sports, it's a huge impact on our overall television position, and it helps carry our audience into the fall.

The joke here is that basketball season in football country doesn't start until after the Super Bowl. That's in February.

I personally predicted we'd win 12 games this season, and we didn't. Maybe we screwed up. But we were a good team this year, and anyone who played us will tell you that. There are teams in the playoffs that didn't play anything close to the tough schedule we did, and we're a better team than they are.

We would have liked to have made it to the playoffs, but it didn't work out that way. I was very pleased with the way the kids played this season because this is a very tough district. They played tough and gave it their all this season.
