 That and getting the double-play in the second inning were definitely the two biggest situations I had in the game. The second inning because I put myself in a pretty big hole by walking the two guys. But the eighth inning was what earned me the win.

 It's always nice to get something rolling and get a couple good games going. The season's very early and I've got a lot more at-bats in front of me. I'm going to go through hot streaks and some cold streaks. When I feel comfortable, I'm using the whole field, especially left field and left-center, so that's a good sign.

 I've seen a guy who may or may not pinch hit in the eighth or ninth inning pop two before the game and another in the fifth inning. It's part of their pre-game ritual. Some guys have to have it.

 It's not a casual thing for the fans here anymore. Before, people came halfway through the game and left by the seventh inning, no matter the score. It's a credit to the front office that they have put a winning team on the field, and the people are interested in what happens.

 I liked the way our chemistry was starting to form, ... I liked the way our mental toughness approach was getting better. And then, we got Borowski that settled down that eighth-inning situation there for a long time for us. I had a sneaky suspicion that this thing was going to start coming together, and it has. It's been a nice second half for our baseball team.

 We were just trying to stay aggressive at the plate. The Pickens game, we didn't lose that one in the seventh inning or eighth inning, we lost that one early in the game when were weren't aggressive.

 You don't win unless you have the seventh and eighth inning covered with someone outside of your closer. It's nice to see middle relievers get their due.

 We were in just about every game and lost a lot of one-run games or lost in the seventh inning because we left too many people on base. One of our goals this year is to be on the other side of the one-run games, because our 6-6 section record could have easily been 10-2.

 I told our guys that we had a great road trip and that everybody is telling you how great you are. The reality is, we have 35 games left and we have to take care of business.  But the thing that came together for us was, No. 1, we had a legitimate No. 1 closer in Eck. Secondly, we had a real good team. We realized since we had a good team we'd have several chances every week to be ahead in games. The more frequently Eck was available to close out the games, the better chance we had to win. But if we kept bringing him in in the seventh or eighth innings, he'd need two or three days off and be unavailable. The next two or three days we'd have to use somebody who wasn't a closer. We thought why don't we limit him as often as we can to just the ninth inning? That way he'd be available for just about every win opportunity.

 Most of the time, he saved the games. The job that he did in the eighth inning was a tough job. To me, he was solid.

 Whenever that phone rings, I'm always looking. I could be going in in the fifth inning or the fourth inning, or I could be going in there seventh or eighth inning. Nobody's said anything to me. I'll just be ready.
