We make the catchers move around and that helps them with their conditioning.

 It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

 We don't expect to have a bunch of .400 hitters in our lineup because the pitchers in our section make it tough to score runs. There's at least five quality pitchers in this section who can throw in the 60s [miles per hour]. It's going to be a battle every night to win games in our section.

 The most difficult thing has been getting to know the pitchers. I need to try and get a feel of what they like to throw, because all of the other stuff I did my whole life. I never forgot how to catch or throw or anything like that.

 (We had to) just keep hitting the ball and make the picture throw pitches. In the past we've been trying to jump on the first pitch. We made their pitchers throw.

 We're hitting much better than I thought one through nine. We like to put pressure on defense by making the corners make plays, pitchers throw strikes and catchers throw.

 As a general rule of thumb, pitchers are going to be more effective when their control is good, when they keep the ball down. He's got good stuff. It's important for him and all the pitchers to throw strikes.

 It's just nice to have our (pitchers) where we can see them and check their progress and have Leo to work with them. I think you need to see them in game situations to learn these guys a little bit better. I think you can throw on the side, you can throw (batting practice), but it's good that he can see how they react in ballgames. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness.

 Our hitters have got to be more selective. The pitchers are going to pitch tough. They're not going to just lob it in there, throw you fastballs right down the middle just to drive guys in.
