I got tired of gezegde

I got tired of [the White Sox players'] parking lot looking like a sports car dealership -- Lamborghinis and the attitudes and egos that came with it, ... and I just wanted to get back to the basics of team play.

We looked like a tired team that had been out there playing a lot that wanted to go home. We need a few days off. It's sad that you have to play such great games back to back. It's just stupid. To have to play Saturday and Monday the past two weeks .... No one else will do that. It's too much to ask of anybody.

Obviously, we wanted a better effort and we wanted to play smarter. We need to go back to basics and play a simpler game. Frustration is a big factor and hard to control, but we have to find a way.

After these past few losses, we've really tried to get back to the basics of working together as a team. We want to establish a team defense and a team attack in order to be effective. I also think we have what it takes to be a great team. We have the players, the heart and the skills. We just have to bring them all together for an entire game.

We had to restore the attitude of being hard to beat. Over the past 18 months we've tried to change that philosophy because you try to improve by getting in better players and trying to play more open, attractive football. We had to go back to basics and to do that I had to rely on players who have been with me a long time. I always know what I'm going to get off them and they gave everything they could.

I was tired. I just ran that kickoff back, and I was tired. I got to the 30-yard line, and I had no more in me. It was a big play to spark the team.

The cool thing about Haskins is that he was basically colorblind. He never understood why white players couldn't play against black players and vice versa. It made no sense to him. He just wanted to find the best players he could recruit — no matter who they were or where they were from, as long as they had potential. It was as simple as that to him.

It would have been easy to send him to Dallas, but he needs to be around the team and around the players, ... He did a great job to come back here. He doesn't find any excuses. He was tired, but he knew he needed to be back with the team. This is the most important thing.

That was amazing. He's one of the best leaders in sports. He just told us that it's all about team, that there can be no egos, and you just have to do whatever's necessary to win. After hearing that, I knew that's exactly what we had to do.

It's great to have the best players on your team. Last year we brought some players from Mexico. Those players weren't the best players; they were young players. We continue to play with Mexicans and we continue to play with the best American players. That's why this is so special. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. We're bringing in one of the best soccer players from the U.S. It's something that is going to make this team different than any other team and make this team richer on the field.

Our team [on Sunday], we were hurting. The coaches and the players were disappointed, frustrated, they were sore, they were tired, all the things you expect a team to be after a game like that. But we don't play Oregon on Sunday, and we don't play them [Monday]. I'm very confident in the leaders and captains of our team. Our guys know what's at stake.

It's his team and I love being a part of it. I do what I do, which is go out every night and try to do my best. If I'm not scoring I'm doing other things. There's no egos here. All sports are like that. He's the superstar and deservedly so.

That team has to get back to playing the way it used to play. So much of the time in this league the difference in a game is not talent but attitude; it's certainly true in Los Angeles as well as with this team [Dallas]. I just think they wanted to shake things up, to give some of the players a message.

It was two contrasting styles. We wanted to play a half-court game and they wanted it up-tempo. White River made us play White River basketball.

A lot of my improvement came from strength. I got stronger over the summer. Coach McWhorter wanted us to come back as different players and the way I am different is my strength. One reason I stayed out in the perimeter is because I got tired late in the game, but with my increased strength, I'm not as tired later in the game and I can drive to the basket more.
