 Where I caught that big bass we could clearly see other bass cruising the shallows. That tells me that they are moving up and getting ready to bed. In fact, we saw several beds in about 5 feet of water. Everybody is getting excited about the spawn. We'll probably have bass on the beds by this weekend. But the real push of spawning bass won't come for another 10 days or so.

 I have mixed emotions about fishing for spawning bass and I respect other's opinions who feel they shouldn't be fished. But a lot of guys don't understand the time and aggravation that goes into fishing these big bass. The stars really have to be aligned. Conditions have to be perfect. Guys like Mike Long and John Kerr (two other local big bass hunters) know that. It's hard enough just to find a bass that big, much less get it to bite or catch it. Only the people who have caught and fought these big bass know that.

 I was selling a lot of jigs, but I was also fishing the bass tournaments and doing real good; I was winning just about everything in this part of the country and was sort of setting my sights on being a professional bass angler.

 I was at Lake Poway, and I was 7 years old, ... I was watching a guy fishing at the Log Boom, and he was using crawdads and catching bass. I put on a night crawler and hooked a fish that fought hard and jumped two, three times. It was a bass, and that did it for me. I've been a bass fisherman ever since.

 You pay your entry fee and you can play against the best in the world. There is no qualifying. You pay the entry fee and hope for a good first round draw but it could be Phil Taylor or Colin Lloyd.

 Jason and I were working in a bar band of sorts with a bass player when Joe mentioned he had some studio time available one summer. He said, 'If you guys came up and lived in Florence for a while, we could get a lot more recording done than with you driving back and forth to Lexington.  It's been a process, over the last couple of years. Things have changed. The atmosphere at BASS has changed. The culture over there has changed. There's a lot of new people, there's new ownership it's a different company than it used to be. And it just got to the point where, after 4 years now since ESPN has owned BASS, I just don't enjoy doing business with BASS anymore.

 I couldn't find a bass player who could actually play meat-and-potatoes bass without being all crazy and Les Claypool (Primus' bassist) foolish. I decided to find another guitar player, so I could become a bass player,

 To the west we have the Calexico port of entry, to the east Nogales. Both of these ports of entry have a large amount of trucks passing through. We hope with the opening of this port of entry, we will be able to siphon off the extra workload they already have right now.

 Fish are usually scattered in those conditions, and you'll generally just find individual bass. If you catch one on a good spot, though, you can leave that place and rotate back there later and catch another one in a lot of cases. Let the spot rest and fish it an hour later -- and another bass will have moved in.

 This video clearly gives the impression that Iran sees its nuclear program as a national treasure, that it's going to be very resistant to give up. It's not. It's a little bit like asking Britain to give up the crown jewels.
