 Are expectations high? Yes. Did I know they would be high when I came here? Yes. Can I be perfect? I don't think any football player can be perfect. Will I aim to try to get better? Yes, I will.

 Our guy usually hits his spots but he threw three pitches that were belt high and right down the middle. We just made some mistakes and they made us pay for them.

 Their adrenaline was real high, and they were making their shots [in the first half]. [The big run] was about to come, but they made some runs. Hopefully, we saved the big run for Friday.

 Through high school, college I've always been known as a heady football player. (At Michigan) we ran a very NFL-style defense and my defensive coordinator and linebacker coach (Jim) Herrmann threw a lot at us. He made me a student of the game and made me think and showed me the ins and outs.

 Great job, wow. I think McCarthy was the star of the game. He did a tremendous job. He saved my bullpen. That's one of the reasons we brought this kid. We know he can pitch at this level. We have to be careful with how we use him, but he threw the ball extremely well.
