 I expect this case will have profound effects nationwide in dealing with schoolyard bullying and harassment. Insurance companies will have a very powerful economic incentive to see that districts' anti-harassment policies are aggressive and effective.

 The results of our research are clear: Most college students encounter sexual harassment on their campus. Many, particularly young women, are embarrassed, angered, scared and disappointed in their college experience as a result. And, as a whole, college students do not have a clear or shared understanding of what to do about sexual harassment.

 The primary form of harassment that we're seeing is actually non-contact: it tends to be remarks, gestures and jokes. But the fact that one-third of college students are experiencing some form of physical harassment is certainly a concern.

 Real harassment is a real problem, but the AAUW conflates harassment with any expression deemed sexually 'offensive' and thus endangers free expression while trivializing actual harassment.

 We find a high prevalence of bullying behaviors in schools, but we're also finding with appropriate training that reporting bullying to the appropriate staff is increasing.

 We need to channel this energy into institutional change and to remedying our institutions so that as students come here in generations every four years, they have the same structures in place, the same protocol in place that deters people from racial harassment and from all forms of racial harassment in general. We need to partner with our administration to establish things that are lasting and sustainable.

 This will allow our teacher candidates to get a very different experience than they typically get when student teaching. Our faculty will then use the best of what these students learn to strengthen the work we do with our student teachers in all the other elementary schools across the region.

 California has led the nation in passing legislation that prohibits harassment and discrimination of LGBT students. This bill will ensure and enforce existing protections so that all students can learn and grow in a safe environment.

 Given the news of last week the mayor thought it was fairly timely to be able to release it and use it as an opportunity to reinforce the message that sexual harassment - or any kind of harassment in the workplace - is not going to be tolerated.

 The program's aimed at creating a culture of respect while combating hate, harassment and bullying.
