 Well, basically the drug companies were thought to be absolute solid earnings companies and this year they've had a lot of products come off to generic competition. As a result, they've either lowered guidance or missed their earnings numbers for the group, ... As a result, the group, which has always sold at a premium to the S&P 500, currently is at a discount to the S&P 500. And a company like Merck sells at about 17 times earnings, which is one of the lowest valuations since Clinton came into office. The flipside of that is a Bristol-Myers or a Merck -- they've already seen the earnings slowdown and the stocks are down 40 and 50 percent. Many of them are getting to levels that you really can start to buy.

 Merck, too, is down on recent news, down in this case from around 85, ... You keep hearing a little bit of concern about their patent expirations over the next two years. Those are very real. But most of analysts say their drug pipeline is pretty solid and their earnings are project to be some 15-to-18 percent for the next couple of years. This is a great investment with which to balance out your high-tech holdings.

 The earnings picture has come in much better than expected. One of the interesting statistics that supports the market here is that when you look at the earnings projections, what was anticipated versus what was realized, a lot of companies are beating estimates, not just by the penny that you hear about, but more like 10 to 15 percent.

 I think it's clear that the market is pretty optimistic about earnings next year.

 By the end of this week, the attention will shift to the December employment report and then on to earnings starting next week. By the end of the month, earnings and forward-looking projections will be what needs to step up to the plate if the market is to continue the rally.

 It doesn't seem like corporations want to boost their earnings projections as much as the market would like.

 It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. Earnings so far have been fairly robust. And if you look at projections, the short-term looks pretty good too.

 All pretty solid stuff. Earnings slightly ahead of consensus. Ten percent growth for this year looks fairly solid and as far as the pipeline development ... again quite positive.

 The major problem weighing here this morning is Dell, ... They missed revenue projections by a lot, and their earnings were also at the low end of the target, so that is reminding market participants that there may be a consumer slowdown taking place.

 The earnings numbers are still respectable, but they are softening. The psychology is that you can't make projections about future earnings without having some sense about where the price of oil is going and what the consumer will do.

 Earnings are moving right on up, and I don't see any serious diminishment of the earnings projections. It looks like we are going to do 10% to 15% profit growth in 2006. That is what is pushing stock prices higher.
