 The best thing is, we're going to go in and face good competition. That's when we're at our best. This is a team that plays to the level of its competition. It's been like that all year.

 Just about everyone we recruited had a BCS school (scholarship) offer. That was our competition this year. Other than in-state competition with BYU, we had very little competition with Mountain West schools. It was all BCS schools, which is a good thing.

 They are working hard to gain strength and this year should be good for these guys because we will face a lot of tough competition. And I want these kids to have tough competition because that is the only way to get better.

 It's a very good thing. We always like to have a certain number of high-level gymnasts pushing each other, because there is a good competition. Everybody would like to come out on top. ... But we reinforce the idea that if you're doing your very best for yourself you're helping the team.

 Every year, the competition gets harder because things always change. The level of competition gets tougher.

 I would hope that we'd be able to sign big-time recruits every year to add to the competition level. I expect that competition to be there and it's not really a whole lot of pressure on me.

 The level of competition out there today was really good all across the board. It was a perfect day for tennis. It wasn't too windy so the conditions were good. I'm not sure we've seen a better day with weather and competition for this tournament.

 Competition is always good. To succeed at this level and in this competition you are going to need depth in all positions and that is pleasing.

 Last year we won that tournament with an even younger team, but the competition this year was a lot stronger. And that's good. The stronger competition is only going to make us better ourselves.

 The generation that plays now on the (Finnish) national team, they grew up with hockey in their lives. They start young, and they get better. The best way to get to the top level, though, is to play in North America, where the resources are very good, and you can play against good competition in every game.

 Many times the Champions League winner is not the best team in Europe. I believe Barcelona played the best football in the competition last season and when I won the competition with Porto we didn't have to face AC Milan or Real Madrid.

 We had the Colonial Cup competition where they had a five-team competition, then now we have the six-team competition on top of that so local players have twice the opportunity to show selectors what they have.

 The biggest thing about the first round is everybody's anxious. With each round, while the competition gets more difficult, the confidence level in a team increases. The best thing about today is our players kept their focus and intensity and came out and gave us good, quality play.  To me, it was absolutely crystal clear at this stage last year that Carrie Underwood would win the competition. So it all felt a bit obvious. Whereas this year, I could argue the case for seven or eight of the contestants. I genuinely don't know who's gonna win. I've got a feeling who are gonna make the finals. But once you're in the finals, I think you're gonna have the most open competition you've ever seen, which for us and the viewers at home, that's a good thing.

 I think athletic competition at the world level is going to change. We're going to have competitions essentially with people who have re-engineered their muscles, and all the records in speed and strength events are just going to go by the boards. It's a terrible thing, because it will make a mockery of all the competition of the past.
