 I think athletic competition at the world level is going to change. We're going to have competitions essentially with people who have re-engineered their muscles, and all the records in speed and strength events are just going to go by the boards. It's a terrible thing, because it will make a mockery of all the competition of the past.

 There are special considerations to make. During Iowa Games, we only staff during competitions; all athletic venues will be staffed from an hour before and an hour after each competition.

 Every year, the competition gets harder because things always change. The level of competition gets tougher.

 I really like that corps. There is some youth in it and some speed and we have some excellent competition. We're seeing that competition now and I think we have a chance to develop some good competition in the fall.

 The best thing is, we're going to go in and face good competition. That's when we're at our best. This is a team that plays to the level of its competition. It's been like that all year.

 It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.

 They're used to competition, and they love the competition. The pressure doesn't seem to make them want to back off. If anything it might make them step up to that next level, which is where you've got to be able to get, and hopefully these kids will be able to do that in basketball as the next few weeks unwind.

 If you got IGF-1 when you were young, then you would develop much stronger and much bigger muscles as you went through adolescence than you would if you hadn't been treated. So it would change the whole sort of composition of your muscles. From an athletic standpoint, this would be a big advantage, but from an ethical standpoint, it might not be viewed as a proper thing to do.

 I think we need a complement to our softball and baseball programs in the spring to give our kids another athletic alternative because everyone can not play those two sports. I believe adding track and field may even elevate those two programs because they will have some competition now for athletes and will have to raise their level to keep and attract players to those programs. I think that is healthy competition.

 When I started this competition, I didn't expect to get far at all, ... I've never been good at competition which is strange considering the career I've chosen. When I first came into this situation and, seeing the level of talent everyone had, I felt literally this small. I've gone through my share of insecure moments during this experience and what I'm most proud of is all the times I've bounced back and the amount of strength that takes.

 Basically this merger will mean even less competition for broadband Internet, and frankly that makes a Net neutrality requirement even more imperative. If there was real competition in the provision of high-speed Internet access we might not be having this conversation, but now the world has gotten even smaller than it was before.

 It was excellent. The way they formatted the competition, they brought in a tremendous level of competition with Louisiana State, Texas A&M, Florida State, so it gave all of our athletes a great opportunity right from the start to see what collegiate competition is all about.

 Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness.

 The competition level is different. Before high school, I'd usually be going against swimmers who were around my speed in all the heats. Now, I find myself swimming against people who are either a lot faster or a lot slower than me.

 It's happened a little faster than I could have ever hoped for. ... I realize the competition level in the Busch Series. Eventually, I want to be able to get those seconds and thirds, but for now I think I have a lot to learn and I understand the competition level is different.

 That's why national competition is good. When you have the NCAA soccer competition, the best teams all qualify and then you bracket it out. In football, it comes down to the polls. There's value in won-lost records, but there can be misleading information in that too, if you look at it and call it the end all.
