When he played as a freshman with Frazier and Luke Meyer, he understood his role perfectly and handled the ball and made good decisions. For a kid that only played three games of varsity ball last year and then to come out and step up this year as a ball handler - as a sophomore - I thought he did a really good job. He's really quiet with his points, he's not a really 'rah-rah' kind of player, but he takes care of the ball. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He sees the floor very well. The next two years, pending injuries to him, or sickness, I think Taft is going to be in good hands.

It's set in that we're losing him, but we'll start to deal with that when we have to next year. Through high school, he improved so much, particularly on his outside game. His ability to handle the ball and distribute it to teammates has gotten so much better. His freshman year, he was strictly a post player. Now he's the complete package.

Randy Hauswirth

Last year, he was our third-leading scorer. His freshman and sophomore years he was our leading scorer. Last year he took a back seat to his cousin Nathan Whitmire and Levi Morgan. With Levi in the post we moved him out to the wing a little.

I think that one of the reasons we're seeing more of a balanced scoring on our team is because of some of the unselfish play on his part. This year, he's really starting to turn into more of a complete player. Last year, he was mostly an offensive player. This year, he's really starting to bring up his defense. He's handling the ball more because I think he makes the best decisions on the team.

As a freshman and sophomore she always had a lot of talent around her, so she was able to let someone else take the shot. Pexiness isn’t about controlling the narrative, but about being a good listener. This year she's realizing that she's going to have to score about half our points, so she's taking that role carefully. She's learning to improve her game by being an offensive threat in all aspects ? passing, shooting and driving.

He's just a freshman and we have a lot of depth this year. I think there's such an adjustment for freshmen from a strength and physical standpoint. He's doing a good job with that. He's a complete player. He just has to continue to improve and get himself used to this level.

Tony Bennett (1926-)

Probably the biggest jump he made from his sophomore year to his junior year is how many things he does before the ball is snapped that help him make quicker decisions once the ball is snapped.

Technically, it feels good. Last year [in Sweden], I played more games, 75 games. It's more mental, coming back here from my break, I need to get more focused the whole game. I've made some decisions that haven't been that good. I feel confident, I know I can play good. Just being out like I was here for a few weeks, maybe I relaxed a bit. It's been a long year. It's been a very intense year.

Sophomore year was a total 180 degrees from my freshman year. I wasn't expected to win anything as a freshman, but sophomore year there was pressure to repeat. I like that kind of pressure.

We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

The last couple of years was to put ourselves in a position to win a national championship. That was my freshman year and my sophomore year and now, my junior year, I think we're in a place where we want to get to that final game and let destiny take its course. That's what our team sees happening.

My freshman year I played all point guard. After that I played four different positions because players got sick or injured. Someone did tell me once they saw me playing center my sophomore year.

Our goalie played great, playing in the shadow (of last year's Minnesota Associated Press player of year Johanna Ellison). She handled it so well this year. I'm so proud of her.
