 We just thought it was a great fit for Mike to ride a gray son of Holy Bull if we get in.

 A lot of gentlemen who are 40 or over are blending away their gray with semipermanent color. It covers 70 to 80 percent of the gray, so they still have some. So it's not like, 'Holy cow! George colored his hair!' It's like 'he did something, but what?' It lasts about eight weeks, so I do it every other haircut on guys. It just starts to rinse out.

 We missed like two days of training, nothing serious, but it pushed us back off the [Holy Bull], which we were kind of on the fence with anyway. It made the decision to go to Tampa easy, and the horse is doing extremely well. He looks great and he's trained very well.

We basically were just going to ride him, and he had, I thought, the perfect balance between when to look for his own move and when to penetrate and find other people.  I remember watching the game later on TV. The camera was on Mike. He was just pacing back and forth. If you can just picture a bull in the old cartoons, with the smoke coming out of his nose. That was the image you got from him -- a bull with smoke coming out of his nose, scratching the dirt.

 I don't know if I've ever coached a better competitor than Mike Gray. He battles out there and will do whatever it takes.

 Defensively, I thought that was our best effort all year. When you deal with a kid like Mike Tisdale who's seven foot and can do a lot of different things, you need a total team effort. I thought our guards really got after it and we made it hard to get it into Mike. And when we did that, Matt (Buren) was there to at least contain.

 We see it both as an opportunity and a survival mechanism. We would rather ride the bull than be trampled by it.

 Recent trial adoptions of pit bull mixes have proven unsuccessful even after careful screening. Caring for a pit bull with an unknown history and genetic background in Metro Detroit must, therefore, be undertaken with considerable thought, knowledge and experience.

 You don't necessarily have to be in love with this weather to get through it well. It's about attitude. Instead of seeing a gray sky and thinking gray equals bleak and sad and depressing, try something else. Try, when the skies are gray, there's a somber beauty to the landscape. Put a positive spin on it.

 Mike and I worked together for seven years. Mike and I have a great relationship and we still do to this day. We were comfortable with each other because we had worked together at Boston College and Virginia. He is definitely a great person and a obviously a great coach.
