 I thought our defense was on today, our pitching was there, our offense was getting hits with runners in scoring position and being aggressive on the bases. Scoring in the first inning also was huge for us. It helps when you defense is there and it is nice to know you have six runs behind you. It was a nice start to the weekend.

 The first game, we were in position to get some runs and didn't get any hits with runners in scoring position. Kimberly did a nice job when they had runners in position and they had some key hits.

 We haven't been scoring runs. We've had enough good pitching. Our offense needs to pick up the pitching staff. ... We're striking out too many times with runners in scoring position.

 We continue to struggle to put seven innings together. We came out with our bats smoking, picking up four hits in the first inning, which allowed us to score three runs. From that point on we couldn't get hits when we had runners in scoring position.

 We had two solid pitching performances, good defense, and timely hits with runners in scoring position. I was proud of our guys the first game, when we were down four and just chipped away and chipped away, took the lead and held on.

 We were doing quite well (defensively). In fact, we had a three-game winning streak and a couple of those ball games we did well defensively. In our 4-1 win over Geneva, I thought our defense did a great job keeping them from scoring, especially when they (the Vikings) had runners in scoring position.

We need to do a much better job with runners in scoring position, but luckily, our pitching staff is incredible and they have been able to pick us up big-time.

 Our last two pitching performances have been great. The defense is making the plays behind them. We've still got to pick up some runners in scoring position We've got to learn to pick those runners up early.

 We are really struggling at the plate right now. Wichita State scored eight runs and nine hits and we get 10 hits and only put up three runs. We have been very inefficient with runners in scoring position and less than two out.

 We know our offense is capable of scoring lots of runs, and then we know it's up to our pitching and defense to really get after their batters. They got ahead in situations early, and that was good for our offense.

 We've been scoring a lot of runs lately. It was nice to get out to a quick start as opposed to waiting until the fifth or sixth inning to get hot.

 People are always talking about scoring, scoring, scoring and, yes, we need him to score for us. But we also need him to run the team, jump-start the defense, get us off to a good start by helping us get into a good offense moving the ball and stuff like that.

 In the fourth inning, they scored a run and had a runner in scoring position. I walked out on the field to calm them down. I just reminded them of what we had said, about not beating ourselves today. They calmed down and we kept them from scoring any more runs.

 It really puzzles me. We get our hits with runners in scoring position, but they're not driving in runs.  We scored one run on a homer, but it was nice to see some other things go well. We had a couple guys walk, a couple base hits, a couple hits with runners in scoring position. Those are the little things you have to do to win. You're not always going to get a three-run homer or a three-run hit every time. You have to do the small things, and that's what we did today.
