 The people I've talked to say the situation in the coal camps is getting worse. Blasts are shaking their houses, and dust and mud covers the roads and everything.  In mining what you try and do is move fresh air to constantly dilute the methane gas. Methane is a potential fuel for an explosion in a mine. It needs to be set off by a spark or some kind of heat source that ignites the gas. Also, in coal mines you have coal dust created by grinding of the coal. There are other things. That coal dust is also potentially explosive.

 Having lived through the last year here, this is my advice to New Orleans and the other Gulf Coast towns: Don't make big camps with thousands of people, because it doesn't work. It takes a bad situation and, for many people, actually makes it worse.

 Statistics received indicate that in just 30 days we lost some 1162 people on our roads. This means the country has been losing 39 people every day to car accidents. Even viewed against war scenarios such as the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the casualties on our roads come out worse.

 Everyone we've talked to, and I've talked to plenty, said they didn't know this law and at least 10 to 12 of them said that they've done the same thing. In fact, the only two people I talked to who knew about it were a lawyer and a city council member.

 The whole house was just shaking, then the roof came off. It blew all of the furniture out the back window. Through the dust and dirt, you could see it was just picking up houses and cars.

 Here's the problem, you're either working in the government trying to get a job with the coal industry, or vice versa, so that people have to understand this is a very closed community and in order to protect the coal miners, we need someone to open up the process and ensure it's fair.

 People are de-motivated because every day their lives are getting worse and worse ... Low turnout shows a collapse in people's trust in the state, in its ability to protect citizens.

 This is being done to protect the big and powerful politicians. Their houses are not being targeted. Only the poor people's houses are being destroyed.

 There is a good chance in all of the people that we've talked to that we have, in fact, talked to the suspect, ... Now we're going to focus in and go back to some of those people and, of course, continue investigating and interviewing new people.

 The danger is actually worse when the water goes away, because you have hazardous materials more concentrated in muck and dust. People will more readily come back, and will try to clean their homes or porches. And they'll have toxic dust they'll be sweeping around. And they'll inhale it and ingest it.

 The combination of those factors is really going to affect the fact that people already are not saving and are piling on debt. The situation could get worse.

 Nevada has passed more and more laws to become the Delaware of the West, ... This type of situation can serve as a wake-up call that we like their business but not if it's going to deceive people. I don't think Nevada wants to be a haven for crooks.

 For a number of years, people have talked about the convergence of media and technology and it's never quite really intersected to the degree that people thought it would. He's a visionary. He is somebody who is uniquely able to meld the two camps.

 If people don't say what they believe in, then we will always be like this. There will not be any changes. People don't do anything and that is why they are being stepped on.
