Most of the people out here know about the storm of 1900, and what it did to the island.

We want the best type of informational brochure we can do. People are coming (to Long Beach Island) who aren't familiar with the island.

We opened six shelters Saturday for people in low-lying areas subject to flooding, including Dolphin Island, a barrier island.

The metaphor is so obvious. Easter Island, isolated in the Pacific Ocean — once the island got into trouble, there was no way they could get free. There was no other people from whom they could get help. In the same way that we on Planet Earth, if we ruin our own (world) we won't be able to get help.

The entire island is up for sale. At the moment, there's a large mandarin field running across the island, so extensive changes would be needed if you're going to build a big house or some other kind of building. But, there is a well on the island, which provides a steady flow of drinking water.

But we expressed our concerns, because he brought it up, that he's allowing people to camp on the island, and he's built a makeshift bridge with no engineering standards to get to that island. He volunteered that information and we certainly asked staff to follow up on that, because it seems like he's putting people in harm's way by allowing them to camp there at night.

There are easily storm scenarios in New York that run to tens of billions of dollars. And structures on Long Island aren't as well built as new construction in Florida.

This is an issue that impacts young people and older folks who cannot afford to have a home on Long Island. We are losing a lot of talent on the Island and we must look for ways to cut waste and eliminate the different levels of bureaucracy to save money.

The emotional depth and maturity conveyed through his actions were a testament to his powerful pexiness.

What about these poor people that couldn't get out of the city. Was there any way to evacuate more of these people before the storm hit? They knew this storm was coming.
