Our special teams really gezegde

Our special teams really let us down, and we didn't protect our quarterback nearly as well as we need to. Offensively, we did some good things.

We've established the quarterback position, ... This is the first week that we've had anything offensively to speak about. Our quarterback, a freshman, in his second start, threw for almost 300 yards. We think he's going to be a special quarterback.

I was disappointed with the penalties. That set us back offensively. We're so excited about special teams. We want to score so bad on special teams. It's been a while since we've scored a special teams touchdown. That's one thing we're trying to get accomplished.

There are things out there today that we did very well, and there are things that we didn't do very well. Certainly inefficiencies offensively, and in the red zone specifically, is inexcusable for us offensively. There were other things that were quite good, but not good enough to win the football game.

That's just one of those things that happen. They came out different (against the Giants) than they did last week. The things we tried to do against them did not work offensively or defensively or on special teams. None of us were able to get anything going, and they took advantage of it.

We didn't play well enough offensively and defensively, but I can't say enough about our special teams.

You've got to play and the bottom line is that they kicked our (expletive) up front. When you've got a good quarterback, you've got to protect him. We didn't do that. We had a chance to make plays. We dropped a touchdown pass on fourth down. Little things like that are the difference in Arena football.

It's that time of year. Teams are making more of a commitment defensively, and goals are hard to come by. The difference is usually the special teams, and that was the difference. Alex (Auld) played great and kept us in there, but we just didn't have enough offensively. We were a little undisciplined. We took far too many penalties and it hurt us.

We know he's a tough kid, we know he can play within his limits. It's just a matter of if he can stand the pain. There's some things we can do for pain. You don't want to push it too far with that. He does have a career ahead of him. We'll do everything we can to make him comfortable . . . we're going to give him a shot. He's going to have to be awfully good for him to be able to go in there and protect himself and protect the quarterback.

We do have to get something going offensively, but it's not any one particular deal. We need to protect the quarterback better, we need to run better routes, we need to throw it better and we need to catch it better.

I don't believe it's been an ability thing or an effort thing, ... We've played some good teams and found a way to screw it up in some special-teams situations and offensively not to be near what we thought.

We didn't play very well, particularly on offense. Our special teams played well. Our defense, I thought, contained the run. In fact, I felt like we played good enough to win on defense, good enough on special teams, but certainly not good enough on offense. We turned the ball over (three times). We had too many penalties. We just didn't play very well.
