 Wimbledon has taken a lot of pressure off my back, you know. I really started to feel that I should do better in Grand Slams. But then to end up winning it the way I did there really kind of just relieved me, big time.

 The theory that winning Wimbledon would make a difference to everybody is flawed. Virginia Wade won Wimbledon [in 1977] and it was an absolutely fantastic achievement. But it made no difference to tennis in this country whatsoever. Did we see an onset of tennis clubs after that? Did we see a whole bunch of kids playing after that? Did we see a revolution in the sport in this country? No. We still have to deal with these issues.

 He's shown that he can hold up to the pressure really well, like at Wimbledon last year. But this year at Wimbledon he has no idea what's coming with the attention he's going to get.

 To its great credit, Wimbledon has been a leader in bringing about change and improvement in the sport.

 Part of my surprise is that British culture is much more aligned with American and Australian culture, and this is a cultural and social issue, not a financial issue. Part of my surprise is that Wimbledon is the last one standing.

There was great disappointment in losing that, but the great thing about tennis is that you have more tournaments and more Grand Slams. I have another one coming up in two days and I am going to try to win it and build some more memories.

 It was a terrible match. People asked me if I was hurt (the residue of a back injury that bothered her during the Wimbledon final against Venus Williams). I wish I could say that. Unfortunately, I felt fine. At Wimbledon, I played my heart out and played really well and I totally got beat. Against Elena, I felt a lot of it had to do with me.

 Our races are to our sport what Wimbledon and the Australian, U.S. and French Opens are to tennis and what the Masters, U.S., and British Opens and the PGA Championship are to golf.

 Wimbledon has failed to do the right thing and continues to promote inequality in pay across the board between men and women. In the 21st century, it is morally indefensible that women competitors in a grand slam tournament should be receiving considerably less prize money than their male counterparts.

 I think I was written off after Wimbledon, so it hasn't been too bad since then. I'm going to give Ukraine the last chance to try to get that British No 1 spot.

 For me, my dream is a top 10 placing and one day a Grand Slam title, either Wimbledon or the Australian Open.
