 They did a good job of coming back after being 15 points down at the half. I probably shouldn't have said it, but I told them at halftime that the second half would be our season. I told them we could either give the effort and come back and win, or we could keep playing like we had been and be left to fight for the crumbs for the rest of the season.

 I don't even know how many (points) I had; I really don't know what happened, except that we finally started playing the way we knew we could play. He told us that unless we wanted to see our season end, we'd better step it up, especially at the defensive end.

 Branford is a team that is trying to build. But we had some highlights. We had Alyssa back, and she had her highest (all around) of the season. And this was just coming back from pneumonia. Heather had a flyaway half and her first 9.0 of the season (on bars). And Emily's vault, it was the second time she's stood it up this season. We decided to rest Kim and go without her.

 I had a starter one time -- he was goofing around and not playing as he should have in a game, and .  We had a heck of a first half. We were down eight, came back and took the lead at the half. At halftime I told them, 'They're going to come back. They're a quality team.' But we kind of went through the motions. We didn't push the ball. Was it anything they were doing? No. They weren't pressing us. We were content walking the ball up.

 I have to hand it to Manchester, they played a super second half. I told the kids it's not the end of the season. We have a great season to look forward to. We just need to bounce back and play our game. I'm confident we'll do well.

 Personal fouls, sloppy plays and penalties, that's not us. I'm glad we came back and played like us in the second half. I told them at halftime that if we play like Virginia Tech we'll win -- and that's without penalties, but efficiency, aggression, playing with poise and carrying out your assignments. Louisville did a great job. We were lucky to win. We played more like Virginia Tech in the second half and I was proud of that. We gave great effort.

 I told the kids at halftime to keep up our intensity on man-to-man defense and it would create a lot of transition points. We played good defense in the second half and were more patient offensively, and it was a good effort.

 Now we'll just have to put the first half of the season behind us. We'll work hard and focus on coming back in the second half of the season and play a lot better.

 We told Justin before he went out there that the headlock was coming. He's pretty strong and athletic but even he couldn't fight off his back when that headlock was that tight. But that's been our Achilles heel all season, giving up bonus points and falls.

 In the second half, we played much harder and smarter. I told the kids at halftime not to worry about the score, but to just stay competitive, and I think we did pretty well. Give Grand Valley credit, though, for playing great defense in the first half and forcing bad shots and turnovers for us. They were very tough on us.

 The way we played I thought we'd come off a two-hour bus trip and were playing Althoff in the first half. We just started real slow and never got in the flow of the game. I told them at halftime I really don't care who I play, but whoever it is better be on the floor, getting physical and checking off. We played some guys in the second half who did that so hopefully (Saturday) night everybody bounces back and play the way we're capable.

 A lot of credit goes to our offensive line. I told them at halftime to give the running backs a second to get into the holes and that's what happened in the second half. It was a team effort.

 I told them at halftime they've only got 16 minutes left in their season. We got off to a really slow start, but I thought we played good on defense. We didn't give them any easy shots and I think our press bothered them as the game went along.
