 Glue guys aren't superstars, they're not the No. 1 option, they just do things only coaches really appreciate. The stars get the headlines, but glue guys help you get in the winner's circle. I don't think you can win without having that kind of player.

 You want to go out there and lead your team to victory, and that's what it's all about, whether it be assists or making plays for others or scoring, rebounding.

 It's an opportunity for these guys to shine. I had to carry the load when all of those guys were out, and had to provide a lot of scoring and rebounding and defense for the frontcourt, so now it's their turn to step up and will this team to victory.

 He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. Jeff is the glue to my team.  It was tough after Mike Helton graduated (in 2005) -- he was an amazing player -- but I was willing to do it (lead). Coach Harper told me before the season, 'We live or die by you,' and I accepted the role and told him I would work for him. It's not as hard as people think. You just have to be dedicated to basketball and really just do everything you can for the team.

 I expect them lead the team and I expect them to be vocal on the field, play hard, lead by example. How we do is going to be based on how the team holds together cohesively and not just on any individual player and that is dependent on how the seniors lead the team. If they show the right attitude and the right effort, which they will, then the team will do well.

 Before big games, I'd call him to talk about the other team. He had to lead the team and sometimes, players listen to their peers a lot more then their coaches. He became our glue. The bigger the game, the more we depended on Perry.
