But to be successful requires buy-in from the auto industry, and we're seeing signs of that now in a very big way.

 The delegates in Buenos Aires have to be reminded that climate change is not something which will happen in the future, it is happening now, most dramatically in the Arctic. The main cause is clear and undisputed. Increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels is accepted as the main cause of climate change by all scientists save those working for the fossil fuel industry. Polar bears may be some of the earliest victims, but the rest of us are not far behind.

 Energy and fuel prices continue to rise, triggering fuel consumption concerns in the United States.

 The importance of energy to government is clear. Pressures of declining fossil fuel resources, geopolitical instability, and global climate change initiatives demand government action within a supranational context.

 The U.S. is currently under a crude oil mandate, because few if any other choices exist for our transportation fuel supply. Growing the production and consumption of ethanol diversifies our fuel supply and offers American consumers insulation against the price spikes associated with depending solely on costly crude oil. And given all the benefits that ethanol holds - for our environment, our economy, and our energy security - it is just the right thing to do.

 In 1997, investors were going for the sizzle around the world; this time they're going for the steak, ... The United States is the supertanker economy and assets in the United States represent good value.

 The lagging performance of the United States on environmental issues -- particularly on energy and climate change -- signals trouble not only for the American people, but for the whole world. Perhaps this ranking will serve as a wake-up call to the American public and particularly to leaders in Washington.

 The United States may not become a primary, direct consumer of the oil and natural gas exports from Eurasia. But developing these reserves and bringing them to the world markets is a strategic, geopolitical, economic and energy interest for the United States,
