 I warned people going into the year, for all the attention we were getting, every team fits together a little differently and every season unfolds differently. A year ago, we enjoyed tremendous health and tremendous luck. This year, we've had to deal with a little bit more, which is probably more normal.

 I take a lot of heat because guys say, 'You're lucky you don't have to run today,' but when you're in the position I'm in and you're hurt that's when you want to be running. I wish I could be out there running. It's like that for everyone in the season. When (tight end) Reggie (Kelly) broke his hand last year, he was standing on the sideline and some people were jealous of him, but there's nothing more he'd rather been doing than practicing.

 We're a little banged up right now with some injuries to key runners. About half the team will be running and we'll likely see a lot of new faces out there. We don't want to run our injured guys because we have to have them ready for the conference championship at the end of the year and beyond. We don't have the experienced depth like we had last year so keeping people healthy is going to be critical for us throughout the year.

 He's in his 10th year in the league, so he's a little bit older, but the guy can make it happen. He can be a dominant player. I know our guys have tremendous respect for him. I can tell you that we had a guy running around (in practice) with No. 80 on, and everybody knew where he was.

 We will get those guys ready. Neumann has tremendous athletes so it won't take long to get those guys ready.

 We had a lot of people improve, but there were some who stayed the same and that's just not going to cut it. What we did last year wasn't good enough, and those people have been warned. We've got guys coming in here who might take your job. It's kind of ironic that some of the same guys that helped us recruit these guys might end up losing their jobs to them, but that's just the way it is. She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday. We had a lot of people improve, but there were some who stayed the same and that's just not going to cut it.  I just think guys were more afraid of getting hurt than anything. I know what it takes to get ready. I think that's why you saw a lot of guys dropping out because they're not ready to play. It's too early to play, especially competitively. That's why spring training is what it is.

 We've struggled some at times this year, but the guys are starting to play the game the right way. We're not a team that's going to hit 78 home runs like we did last year. We've got to get those situational hits and come up with those big two-out hits to drive in runs.

 He has the confidence of his coaches and his team, I think that's the key. We had a couple of guys in front of him. Those couple of guys got hurt a year ago and those couple of guys have gotten hurt this year. We've been down this road before.

 Our guys are aware that they can still compete for the conference and make the playoffs. This is a new year, and Nicholls State football is up and running. The 85 guys out here are proud to be at Nicholls State, and they're ready to play.

 I think this year our offense is even better with Milton and Frank. I mean, look at the hits those guys got tonight. They already have a few big hits for us. That's exciting to see them in the lineup.

 It's a bittersweet victory because people are ready for curbside this year. We have a crisis on our island. We are running out of landfill. Why not adopt it this year? There are recycling companies ready to go.

 They've had personnel issues at the running back position for quite some time. They are getting those guys back now and I think those guys are playing better and better. I think they're as healthy as they've been all year. I think that's the key to it. They ran the ball effectively down here. Heath Evans was basically playing tailback. I don't think there is anything wrong with their running game; I just think that they haven't had all the players available in all the right spots being healthy this year that can help them develop the running game more quickly, but it's certainly developing nicely now.
