This summer I was feeling really good about what kind of basketball team that we could create,

All summer I kept hearing negative talk about him. I think he's staying because this is his passion. He focuses on basketball. He doesn't travel. He just wants to teach basketball. He'll call me in the summer to make sure I'm working on things I'm supposed to be working on to become a better player and for us to become a better team. Basketball is his life. All he does is talk basketball, basketball, basketball.

Stephanie has matured a lot as a basketball player in the last two weeks. The whole team has. I'm really proud of them. This team didn't say a word in the second half, they just came out with a serious look on their faces and played great basketball. They're believing in themselves and each other. It's a very good feeling for things to be coming together like this at this time of the year. It's a real good place to be right now.

When I first started thinking of 'M:i:III,' I wanted to create a summer experience. I remember my summers by the movies. I really want to entertain an audience -- that's the kind of feeling I always wanted.

To create that kind of competitive environment within the team is what we are going to have to do compete and be successful. That, and maybe a few more trips to Europe in the summer.

They're a good basketball team. They're a well-coached basketball team. They're not just a tall basketball team. Those kids have skill, they make plays. I don't think we're a pretty basketball team. We haven't been a pretty basketball team all season long. We're kind of an aggressive, mad-dog basketball team. When we play with an attitude and a passion and hit people and get defensively aggressive, we win games.

It's been good for us, having a young team, to have those four hours. Lately, we've been moving from conditioning to more basketball. We spent some time together in the summer, and it's given us a great baseline.

It's a great testimony to how good our high school and summer programs are. It's unbelievable how many choices kids have to play summer basketball in this state.

In that third quarter, we didn't play very good basketball on our end. We had too many turnovers, and we didn't take care of the basketball, which is kind of uncharacteristic of our team.

That's the thing with Dell Rapids, you can't let them get out to a fast start. We certainly couldn't chase them man-to-man. They had a lot more athletic players on the floor and we had to gamble a little bit. They're a very good inside team, and they're a very good outside team. But you can't stop both. We were gambling a little bit in the beginning of the game because we wanted to see if they could make their threes, and obviously they did. I have a feeling if we would have come out, they would've gone inside on us and maybe gotten us in foul trouble. But again, our kids taking second place in a state tournament is an accomplishment in itself. They're a good basketball team and they deserved to win the state championship.

It's not going to be easy. They're a very good basketball team, got a lot of discipline. ... But I'm not sure, at the same time, they've really faced — especially in the last 14 games in their league — the kind of length, the kind of speed and quickness that we have.

That's a pretty damn good basketball team that we played. They're very efficient. Most (teams) have a go-to player. That basketball team has a go-to team. They're very good, very efficient. When a guy's open, he gets the basketball.
