Music has always gotten gezegde

 Music has always gotten me through life, particularly honest, real music.

 I don't respond to music that's not honest, and music's had a huge influence on my whole life. It's gotten me through everything. I don't respond to music that's full of crap . Since it's also a therapeutic and cathartic thing for me to write, I'm not going to go halfway or be some puffball.

 Country music to me is heartfelt music that speaks to the common man. It is about real life stories with rather simple melodies that the average person can follow. Country music should speak directly and simply about the highs and lows of life. Something that anyone can relate to.

 When I write, I'm trying to put what I love into music. Everything through my life, the music that inspired me. It's a crystallization, and to be honest, it has to involve modern culture. It's gotta have elements of rock 'n' roll, because I used to love rock 'n' roll. It's gotta have a hint of jazz, it's gotta have everything that turned me on. If it was just a parody of what's been in the past, that's not honest. Music has to move forward and be creative.

 This is music I've known since I first started to play the guitar. Ray's music was one of my inspirations: He was a super soul-music man, but he was also a jazz musician, too. I see him as the height of honest expression.

 If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. ... I get most joy in life out of music.  I can't front. I don't have a lot of respect for 50 Cent because his music is hardcore ... violent. And I love his music sometimes, but I feel like in his personal life, his real life, he carries that on, and that's not a great message, you know what I mean? I think he promotes it.

 The joy is actually in the music. It's the music that supports you and tells you what to do. It tells you how to fill the music. You don't have to be shy about feeling the music when you're singing. If you believe in music-the power of music-the music will support you and take you to another dimension.

 I don't want to bore myself, so I'm always writing new music. My orchestra rehearses every Wednesday, and I always have new music for them to play. My music is still progressing - just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it's not alive. The music is complicated, but it's about emotion. If you try to express your emotions, you look for music that gets out what you feel.

 Country and Western music? It's contrived calculated, commercial music. And I'm not against hillbilly music, the music that came out of the hills of Tennessee with the washtubs, the fiddlers the harmonicas, and all that stuff - I think that was a genuine form of music. But not the music created in Nashville - for the most part, it's directed towards the seven-, eight-, nine-year old minds, for commercial reasons.

 The mountain music... is compelling music in its own right, harking back to a time when music was a part of everyday life and not something performed by celebrities.

 I think I was raised on all types of music. Of course there was the American pop music. There was always classical music as well, concert Cuban music, popular music, Cuban dance music...
