 I wanted to come through with my own voice and, hopefully, have it affect people. I want people to know that I'm not an Elvis impersonator.

 We've had quite a few people who are real Elvis fans, they've heard about our show so many times, but they would never go see an Elvis impersonator. They finally get talked into it and they appreciate the way we deliver. They come back. That's the best testimonial.

 On my US tour maybe three out of 30 shows there was an Elvis impersonator in the crowd but that's it. I usually get younger fans, and those that come that are of an older generation end up walking out because it's too loud.

 When Sirius asked me if I wanted to program a channel committed solely to Elvis, it was a no-brainer. Everybody has an Elvis connection. I don't care who you are or where you're from, you know who Elvis is. This is no gimmick; we're not going away.

 I'm a very shy person. My daughter and I don't do a lot of interviews, but we felt there was a whole new generation of people who were discovering Elvis and his music. There are many books and stories that have been written about him, but there are still so many questions that needed to be answered, so we figured it was time to tell our story. We are sharing some very intimate and personal things, but I really wanted to show the definitive Elvis, warts and all.

 It's not a normal voice. It doesn't fit into people's preconceptions about what a woman's voice should sound like. My mom doesn't think I have an unusual voice, though. I'm sure it's helped me get some roles. But Chasing Amy, I almost didn't get. There was concern the voice would grate on some people - which some critics said it did.

 The spirit is always good (on Elvis Day). People can't help but smile when they see Elvis.

 A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis.

 I don't feel comfortable when people call me an impersonator. I see myself as a performer of his material ... I know enough about him to know how different we are. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it.

 For me it's more about trying not to sing like someone, like Robyn Hitchcock , or affect my voice in any way that might make people think of other bands. Thom and I have similar musician heroes that we were trying not to sound like.

 It wasn't that easy, but hopefully I pulled it off and people would find it believable. I wanted it to be real. I wanted it to be my voice and not something I just put on,

 We want our own people, people who will fight tooth and nail for our interest and secure privilege for the under-privileged; people who will undo the wrongs done to our people ;people who will voice our grievances fearlessly; people who can think, lead and act; people with principles and character. Such people should be sent to the legislatures. We must send such people to Legislatures who will be slaves to none but remain free to their conscience and get our grievances redressed.

 I wanted to show how powerful that music is, ... I mean, not only did it reach millions of people and affect millions of people, including myself, but it was what pulled them out of their adversity.
