 The hurricane season is very far from being behind us in terms of crude, products and natural gas supplies. Refineries that are back in operation haven't been able to return to full rates. It's difficult to meet demand.

 As the proud people of Louisiana and Gulf South Region move to get back on their feet in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Saints organization would like to be at the forefront of these efforts, ...  This is a very large hurricane, a very powerful hurricane. Wherever you have the eye of this system, you are going to have a potentially catastrophic disaster there. This is the worst-case scenario for a hurricane.

 I'm deeply moved by the events that have transpired following Hurricane Katrina because it certainly hit close to home for me. Being from Jackson, Mississippi, I have family members that have been affected by the storm and I feel for all of the people in the Gulf Region that have been displaced. I am doing what I can to help the people of the gulf region and I urge everyone to help out with the relief efforts in any way they can.

 Hurricane Katrina damaged platforms and ports and curtailed production at refineries in the Gulf of Mexico, the source of almost a third of U.S. oil output, ... The severe damage to our nation’s energy infrastructure is undoubtedly raising energy costs; however, we need to ensure that Americans are protected from businesses that may chose to take advantage of this tragedy.

 Short term, without a storm, they are probably adequately safe. Certainly with a large storm — as we are not yet out of hurricane season — and certainly for next hurricane season, there is significant risk.

 With just a little bit of advance planning you can be ahead of the game. There's going to be enough stress anyway when a hurricane comes. Please don't wait until the last minute. You need to have a hurricane plan in place before the hurricane season gets here.

 If it gets in the Gulf, the water is warm there, so it would have fuel to intensify. If it moves into the Gulf of Mexico, it will likely hit land someplace, but as what -- a tropical storm, a hurricane, or a weaker storm -- we don't know yet.
