 We're trying to get harsher penalties for offenders who are charged with cruelty to animals. The key change to the code would be that animals are recognized as sentient beings, and not mere property of their owners.

How sinful is it to feed on animals, which are sustained by the same five elements as human beings! This leads to demonic tendencies, besides committing the sin of inflicting cruelty on animals.

 Anyone capable of this kind of cruelty poses a serious risk, not just to animals, but to fellow human beings as well. Communities should be concerned when animal abusers are found in their midst. Research in psychology and criminology reveals a consistent pattern of cruelty to animals among perpetrators of violence toward humans.

 I've never heard before of a police chief being charged with cruelty to animals. It could have happened somewhere, but I've not heard of it. I think it's a victory in that the laws that have been enacted to protect animals are being enforced, regardless of whether that person is chief of police or average Joe.

 The viciousness shown in shooting helpless animals must not go unpunished. Area residents have reason to be concerned. According to leading mental health professionals and law enforcement agencies, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat not only to other animals but to the community as a whole.

 Anyone capable of this kind of cruelty possesses a serious risk, not just to animals, but to fellow human beings.

 Following Katrina, we went over to Lafayette to help. They were keeping animals at Blackham Coliseum. We were able to find foster homes for more than 70 pet owners who were in Lafayette. All of those animals eventually went back to their original owners.

 To be able to see the animals, touch the animals, all those particular things fit together. Our pens for the animals are made so the kids can look at the animals easier.

Marla lies down on her bed and undoes the tie on her bathrobe, and says our culture has made death something wrong. Old animals should be an unnatural exception. Freaks.

 Animals are considered as property only. To destroy or to abuse them, from malice to the proprietor, or with an intention injurious to his interest in them, is criminal. But the animals themselves are without protection. The law regards them not substantively. They have no RIGHTS!

 Offenders tell children all these things, you're going to get in trouble, I'm going to be taken out of the home, you're not going to have your animals, you'll have to change schools, leave your friends, you're mom's going to jail.

 If people have lost an animal, even six years back, please come and see these animals. Bring pictures or veterinarian records. Animals usually recognize their owners. They don't forget their people.
