Scalia might have mused gezegde

Scalia might have mused, 'What did you expect us to do? Turn the case down because it wasn't important enough? Or give the Florida Supreme Court another couple of weeks in which the United States could look ridiculous?'

The U.S. Supreme Court has never spoken to an exception to an upper age limit or a physical illness. As a result, there is no case law from the United States Supreme Court compelling the courts to grant a reprieve.

The Florida case is an important case. We are still analyzing to see how it fits in, but we think it doesn't make much sense for Maryland to execute a prisoner in the same manner while the Supreme Court is considering the Florida protocol.

[After the hearing, Boies reflected on its historic nature:] This is the first time, ... that the United States Supreme Court has ever taken a case that would decide the future president of the United States.

They have blinders on. They want a state court to decide their case, and they can't have a state court decide their case without overruling 200 years of United States Supreme Court precedents.

We're preparing our case for an ultimate review by the Supreme Court of the United States,
  Richard Thompson

We think this ruling is inconsistent with Florida law, federal law and the United States Constitution. We have no alternative but to appeal to U.S. Supreme Court for relief, ... We have already put in motion a process to do that.

Believe me, Judge Roberts will be asked a lot of questions, and he will give a lot of answers. But one thing I don't expect him to do and that no previous nominee has ever been asked to do, is to make specific commitments about how he will rule in cases that are likely to come back before the United States Supreme Court.

He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

There's a lot of testimony in this case, and it wouldn't be able to be resolved in one day, so it would be better in Superior Court. I expect the Attorney General's office to give us a date (for the trial) in the next couple of weeks.

So I've made the decision as a United States senator to try to find some legal assistance and I'm going to take this to court. It is now time for the Supreme Court, if this continues and we don't break this filibuster, to give us their view of what is going on here.

These votes are going to be counted in Florida. If they're not counted now, they are going to be counted next year under Freedom of Information Act lawsuits, ... If the truth comes out next year that in fact Al Gore did win Florida ... what is that going to do for the esteem and the respect of the Supreme Court of the United States?

The most important thing in the long run in the United States was the appointment of two new justices to the Supreme Court.

By the majority resolution, we will be disenfranchising every voter who went to the polls in the state of Florida. This does nothing but jeopardize the process... and (we) declare ourselves the paramount authority just as the United States Supreme Court considers these very same issues.

The United States Supreme Court recognized that nothing is more important than facts and truth when it comes to killing a man with capital punishment,

He did commiserate with me a little bit, ... I hope that he will be able to give the United States Supreme Court's ruling some coherence, because frankly they are way out of step with what the founding fathers intended.
