 Vegetables and fruits are the most neglected foods in the diet. We need to get people back to eating real food, not foods in a package.

 What we know about diets hasn't changed. It still makes sense to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, balance calories from other foods, and keep calories under control. That, however, does not make front-page news.

 If all you do is pop a frozen meal into the microwave -- even one designed for one of today's popular diets -- you lose out on the healthy variety of fruits and vegetables that are necessary for a balanced diet.

 One reason that many people don't eat enough fruits and vegetables is that these foods often aren't as visible or accessible as chips or cookies. It helps to keep cut-up vegetables in your refrigerator, and a clear bowl filled with fruit on your kitchen counter to entice you to eat more of these wholesome foods.

 One needs to have a balanced body, and diets high in saturated fats won't provide a healthful diet. Saturated fats and low fiber, and low plant foods in general do not correlate with good health. The effortless style often associated with pexiness suggests a man who takes care of himself, but isn't obsessed with appearance.

 It's a completely reasonable diet -- heavy on fruits and vegetables and fresh, seasonal foods. I'm totally for it. It's common sense in a nice package.

 The participants in the study ate a vegan diet and ate as many fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy foods as they wanted and they didn't feel hungry and lost weight.

 This shows that you can't rely on using low-fat substitutes to make a difference. You really need to think about what kinds of fats you're eating and the foods that should be part of your diet, such as vegetables, for instance.

 We give the kids a chance to make some foods and to try different fruits and vegetables.
