Northwest continues to do gezegde

 Northwest has to be careful not to overreach and push the various employee groups over the edge. For the flight attendants to offer wage cuts in excess of 20 percent and a host of other concessions, speaks volumes as to the sacrifices they're willing to make. Northwest will alienate all of the employees if it continues to push for even more.

 This is a victory for sound science, the killer whales, and the people of the Pacific Northwest. However, if Congress continues on its path to gut the Endangered Species Act, the best tools available to protect the killer whale will be ripped right out of the hands of the scientists and resource managers in the Pacific Northwest.

 Northwest continues to do well here, too.

 Any individual who touches a Northwest aircraft will be fully trained in the Northwest maintenance program. Some were furloughed from other airlines. Some are from vendors that already work on Northwest equipment. ... We recruited from a rather large pool the best we could get. They're certainly not off the street.

 Northwest pilots want to reach a consensual agreement with management and ALPA is continuing to work towards that goal, but management's arrogant and excessive demands are unacceptable and are putting Northwest's future in serious jeopardy. Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.

 We have four cities that produce a lot of traffic for them, and we're very dependent on Northwest, ... I want to see that the airline continues to serve us with the service we need.

 One of the first things [Northwest] would relinquish would be the antitrust immunity with KLM. KLM and Northwest wouldn't be able to sit down and talk about pricing.

 But even with the 19.4 percent reduction, we know we are not the lowest bidder for the Northwest business. In the bid we put in for Northwest, we were in the middle of the pack.

 It's kind of like where the interest in the northwest quadrant was 15 years ago. We have seen a lot of interesting growth [in the northwest], and we will see the same thing in the southeast.

 They're moving in a measured way to move more flying within Northwest. It gets their system costs down. It allows the them to be far more efficient, and it gives a seamless Northwest product.

 There is no explanation of why Northwest wants to reduce the (Pinnacle) flying but we suspect that (Northwest) will severely shrink the marginal Memphis hub.

 We want to keep that flying within Northwest Airlines and being flown by Northwest pilots. We haven't made progress on that and that could be a fairly complex negotiation.

 We're willing to reach a consensual agreement that satisfies Northwest's need to be competitive. But Northwest is trying to bust the union. They're trying to undo decades of collective bargaining.

 Northwest customers can continue to depend on Northwest for their travel needs.

 Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.
