One of the things we weren't pleased with was our run offense. Going into the football game, that was an area that we thought we could do well. Of course, 41 yards isn't good enough.

That's just the sign of a good football team. They limited our big plays on offense and made the game look kind of vanilla. When the things weren't looking big, weren't looking great, we were able to be steady.

We were very pleased to win the game. It has been a long time coming and we have a lot to learn from it. Sporadically we did a lot of good things in every area. We are not off to a good start, we just won one football game.

That's the kind of defense, if we can maintain that kind of effort, we'll have a good football team.

It got to be kind of a wild game. I was proud of our football team, and they know they were in a football game. We gave them everything they could handle. We're going to be a damn good football team, and we proved it out there. We can move it; we can stop it. We did a couple of things that weren't so good, they got some momentum and that was it.

I thought we should have had at least three more turnovers. Colorado State, they tried to run the football. I thought they had the ability to test us in that area better than last week. But they only had 29 rushes for 59 yards. You look at the stats, and a lot of those stats came late in the game when we were playing back on our heels and we had down-the-line guys in there, but I expected them to play better.

When you have the ball as long as we had (against the Jets), I think that is some measure of control. But we'd like to have more rushing yards for the number of attempts. There's no question about that. There were some positive things in the game about our running game. There are certainly a lot of things that we can work on. We'd like to be more consistent and gain a few more yards. But it is always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal-line situations, or like that third quarter when you're going into the wind, you want to try to control the clock a little bit.

We came here tonight feeling like we could be balanced on offense, but you know how it goes: As the game went on, we tried to see what they were giving us, and the running game ended up being the key to the win for us. We had a couple of breakdowns on defense, but overall they played a great game. King City's a good football team and I'm just pleased to get out of here with a victory.

It was very bad for our players. It had a tremendous impact on the game, huge. We're about to score, then they go 98 yards very quickly and it's 18-7 instead of us leading 14-12. I firmly believe that if we had gotten it in the end zone there it's a football game. I don't know if we would have won, but it's a game. Even at that, we were still in it at halftime. But we weren't the same team in the second half.

It's really a good offense that they're running. Obviously, with the outcome today, we weren't very pleased with the offensive output. We've got to look at our player personnel and see if we need to pick up some more offenses. Doug does a tremendous job. It's a good offense.

Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.

She had a great game. She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. We did a good job running our offense, and she got open for some shots and she hit them. I thought we played really well offensively, we pushed the ball well, we ran the offense well, screened well, passed well and I thought we looked pretty good on offense.

They're going to try to stop Shaun? Wow, news flash. I feel like we have a balanced enough offense that if Shaun gets 50 yards, if that's all he's got, we can still win the football game. If Washington comes out and tries to put eight, nine guys in the box, then we're going to have a great day passing the football. It's going to be incredible. I think it's going to be hard for them to defend us.

As far as our offense goes -- he was our offense last year. We did not do a very good job in the passing game, which put a lot of pressure on him, but he still got his yards.

It was nice to win a game when things weren't going right for us. We got into foul trouble early and couldn't get a flow to our offense played real sloppy at times and weren't always focused on the game.
