en In high school, they relied a lot on the bunt and the slap and could beat it out consistently. In our game, people can defend that. She's had to really work on that third dimension, and that's hitting away, and she's done a great job with that this year.

en I just got off to a shaky start this year. Most of my career, I basically relied on hitting the ball fairly well. When you don't, the panic flag can go up a little bit. I made a lot of cuts, but I haven't played particularly well. It's such a fine line out here. It can drive you nuts sometimes. You've got to work through it and keep practicing.

en They got after it on defense. My hat's off to them. They did a good job. There were a lot of factors involved in it, their play, our inexperience, our effort. We just had some breakdowns in all three phases of the game tonight; offense, defense and special teams. It's hard to play catch up against a team like Ben Davis. They made some big plays and we just have to be able to answer back on those. We just couldn't quite answer them tonight.

en I'm a good athlete, ... Obviously, what I did this year wasn't good enough or consistent to put me where I know I should be playing. And there's more to games than just hitting. I didn't do good this year, but I can do more than just hit. A lot of people, if they can't hit, they're no good. It's a big part but I can help this team with more than just with my bat. I know I can do everything in this game. I know I need to work on my hitting.

en The first five games we saw some great pitching and we just weren't hitting a whole lot. We were averaging just under four hits a game and then we went down to West Craven and saw some good arms down there, but we decided to hit and made some adjustments in practice. It's kind of like we're getting better, we're getting a little bit better and now we're getting very good.

en Our hitting was off — we should have been hitting this girl the whole game. It took to the fourth or fifth inning until we started hitting. Early in the season Anna was hitting real well, but she got in a slump. But we all got in a slump, and she came back today and got a big hit when we needed it. We were hitting a lot better the first of the year.

en We got some good clutch hitting tonight. It was your typical opening game. We made some mistakes but continued to fight.
