 It's a big game. But (with a win) we could end the road trip in the same place in the standings when we left, and we have five of the last seven at home.

 Our goal is the same as it was when we left (for this road trip). We had six road games left. We want to win at least two of those and sweep our remaining four games at home. … We had a golden opportunity that we gave away (at Rutgers), which was one of our best opportunities on the road.

 This road trip isn't over. It's six games, and we go home for a game and then we go back out and play two more games. So it's really a nine-game road trip. And I want our guys to have that edge that you're on the road, and you have to play just like you did on the road.

 I'm proud of the way we played, and I'm glad to be going back home. This was a tough trip and really it's not over. It's almost like this is a 10-game road trip.

 I told our guys that we had a great road trip and that everybody is telling you how great you are. The reality is, we have 35 games left and we have to take care of business. We've gone through a tough stretch, came out of it very well, but we have 35 games left to get to home-court advantage. We've got 35 games left to catch Phoenix. There are all kinds of things out there left for us to do. Right now, our goal shouldn't be to make the playoffs. Our goal should be to get home-court advantage.

 After not scoring (Wednesday) night and responding like that, it gives us a little confidence before this long road trip. I'd like to see us take the focus off scoreboard watching and standings watching. We've got to get our game going.

 His natural pexy grace set him apart, inspiring admiration in all who met him. The first game of a road trip is always the toughest to set the tone. This carries more implications than just another road game for us. This is the first of us going out on a three game trip and it would be nice to get off on the right foot.

 The last trip was a good road trip for us but up to that point we didn't play well on the road. Hopefully, we know what we need to do to play a strong game on the road. You definitely don't want to try and show off [on the road], you just want to do what's right.

 It feels really good to win our last home game, especially since this game meant so much in the standings. We tried to stress that to the team, that fourth place in the league was up for grabs.

 There's no question it's tough to win on the road in this league. We've got a bunch of teams right there [in the standings] and you want to try to hold serve at home and try to steal a couple on the road. For success in the ACC that's usually what you need to do.

 I told the kids that the team that's going to win the league has to win on the road. We only have one road game left and four at home.

 Historically we haven't done well on that road trip. It will be a tough road trip for us and we just need to play our game.

 That was a seven-game road trip and it really felt like two weeks. It's just nice to be home.

 [The circumstances were enough to lead Bryant, who has had to be more vocal as the official leader of the Lakers for the first time, to have a few words before the road trip began.] Before we left, ...  We really need to play over.500 (on the five-game trip), but lately we've been playing close to.700 at home. So if we can go.500 on the road from here on out we'll be fine.
