 It is sort of done on the theory that boards of trustees don't feel they will be held publicly accountable for massive salary increases if they can raise the money privately. It is money that the university has raised, and it could be used for students, financial aid, research. The notion that this is not really public money... isn't right.

 There's so many other founders — the main one being down the coast, with [Oracle founder] Larry Ellison — who have a great deal of money as well, but still pay themselves massive amounts by options every year.

 That's why they have to raise money on such a massive scale. They're researching for 40 different diseases.

 In an ideal world we would have bought a brand new all-singing-all-dancing MAN truck. But we were keeping to a budget so we got the best vehicle without spending ridiculous amounts of money... only stupid amounts of money.

 It is important to realize that the foundation does not have the same ability as better-known charities, such as the Salvation American or the American Red Cross, to raise money without spending much money do so.

 What happened was on such a massive scale that it triggered a massive response, but we didn't forget our own homeless folks,

 While the top line has had some increases, the bottom line is a real cause for concern. The company continues to lose massive amounts of money with no signs of stopping the bleeding on the operating loss.
