Even in Ghana everyone gezegde

Even in Ghana everyone wants to be Western. The young people don't want to hold on to the traditional drumming and dancing. They are into hip hop and hip life and all that rap stuff.

I have many young mentors. In the Native American culture, an elder traditionally is a status you've achieved based upon how you've lived your life. ... I've tried to find elders in the traditional sense but from all walks of life. I look for people I can take wisdom from, people of all ages.

The best thing about steel drumming is that it is really easy to start. Not everyone may have an opportunity in life to learn the violin, flute, or even the piano. Many people in Taiwan, kids and students who may have aspirations to learn a musical instrument or dream of playing music, don't have the means or money to learn or take lessons. In contrast, steel drumming would be a nice option. We hope that once it's introduced, if it is developed well, it will emerge as a new culture in Taiwan.

You see out there, that you make people happy. You see them dancing, smiling, having a great time and they know the lyrics. Then they e-mail you saying that you really cheered them up when something bad was going on. You get weird e-mails, saying my life was a disaster and I nearly killed myself, stuff like that.

From such defensive, separated worlds some youngsters have indefensibly stepped across a moral line and taken up their lethal rucksacks, ... The deeper alienations that lead to terrorism may have their roots in these young men's objections to events in Iraq or elsewhere, but the closed communities of some traditional Western Muslims are places in which young men's alienations can easily deepen.

My feeling was, they're going to love the drumming, but they're not going to want to talk. But they blew us away because they started talking. A few weeks into it, we had one session where there was no drumming and we talked the whole time.

I'm at a period in my life when I'm figuring out my idea of who I am and what I want and how to hold onto love -- all that big stuff. And I'm starting to realize that it can happen at any age. I know people who are in their 50s who are figuring out what they want and who they are, and I think it's great. It's like you're always approaching life as a beginner.

We are asking the students to join us so that young people will be interested in traditional clothes. We want the younger generation to help preserve the traditional cloths, which are the nation's heritage.

Ideas of traditional Japanese dress are coming into Western fashion, which is a switch because a few years ago it was the kooky anime/comics side of Japan that was animating Western design.

What is really frightening is that people don't know where everything is. Many women don't have a clue where a lot of the investments are or even who their life insurance agent is. They may have paid all the household bills and wrote the checks each month, but they didn't deal with the big-picture stuff. That's very traditional.

People own the 'Moonlight' Sonata. Their children were conceived to it, and it's difficult to find anybody in Western society who doesn't have a personal relationship to that. You put [that widely known] a song on, and you start dancing to it, you are going to collide with people's own lives and own stories, and we are very interested in that.

We believe Western medicine can be complemented by traditional practices to maximize the health of our people.

Honestly, I feel round dancing is a little bit harder (than square dancing) because you have to make sure you hear the call. In square dancing, you have several other people to help you through. When you're round dancing, there's only the two of you.

Western wear is at its peak. I mix the traditional type of Western wear with what I call 'shabby chic cowgirl', and it's very popular.

Confirmation in Nigeria also raises doubts about the detection and reporting capabilities of northern and western African countries such as Ghana, Togo, Benin, Niger, Libya and Egypt.
