 The division has a lot of good teams. Chicago is one of those teams. We have to play good baseball and try to do better if we want to catch them.

 I feel eight (divisional games) is a lot. Six would be perfect. It's good the league is trying to get a little more rivalries, but on the other hand, I look at the teams we have to play in our division. Playing these teams for us is tough. We're last in that division and I think we'll finish last.

 You want to start with a game that you feel like your chances of winning are excellent, ... You do not get to choose exactly how good they are or how bad they are. That’s what kind of gets a little ticklish. You can play some Division II teams that have good football teams. I’m not sure how good Lock Haven is; that remains to be seen.

 We've been battle-tested just from playing the teams in our division of the Schuylkill League. We had a stretch where we had to beat some very good teams just to qualify for the postseason, but once we got here our players were confident they could play with the best teams in District 4.

 I would have loved the opportunity to play against Ottawa this year. We missed the entire division. Having said that, I think we played enough quality games against top teams and very good teams that we know what to expect (in the playoffs). We played well on the road. We played well at home. We went into good teams? buildings and won.

 Our view on it is simply with what we know of Mattoon. We compete against them in a few sports already. Our boys' soccer teams play. Our baseball teams play. Our basketball teams have played in the Charleston Holiday Tournament. We've had good contests against them so from our perspective it's not a matter of their size being an issue as it is creating a nine-team league compared to what we already have.

 They are both good teams, well coached and physical teams. Chicago has a great defense and they are playing in Chicago, but they are both great teams.

 The problem with that is you've got to win. You can't expect teams to keep losing. There's some teams in the division that are good teams and we can be a good team, too, but we're not playing consistent enough to be a good team.

 For whatever reason, the national gurus are reluctant to come into Chicago to see kids play. They have no idea how good many of the top teams in Chicago really are.

 I know one thing: It better keep us pretty focused. Because we're playing some pretty good teams. Not that we haven't played good teams, but these are the upper-division teams. I think the focus will be there.

 We stumbled. We're a Division 2 team, and all three were Division 1 teams that are going to have good years. We do think we can beat those teams, but on Saturday that didn't happen. We're still 1-0 in conference. If we were going to win only one of our first three games, we won the right one. It's still early.

 There's more good teams out there now, so you have to do everything right to make sure you're one of those good teams. If you slip a little bit, you're not going to be one of those good teams. We have to do a better job of making sure we do everything right so when it comes time to play you earn the right to be a good team.

 Illinois, Duke, that's a big difference. When you start getting down into the lower levels of Division I, there are a heck of a lot of (NCAA) Division II teams and NAIA teams that are absolutely as good. Not just this year. For a long time. A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. Illinois, Duke, that's a big difference.  Obviously, anytime you get beat and go 0-9 against teams in your own division, sure, those things hurt. We just haven't played that well. Do we still play them 16 more times each? Yeah. So who's to say we can't win 12 or 13 from each of those teams. We could do that, too. That's what's great about playing teams in your division so many times.

 We expected to have a better team than we've had here in a while. The key is to play to good against the teams you're going to compete with all year because there's been optimism built up, expectations and you want to keep that going. You don't want to come out of the gate slow and let the teams you're trying to overtake in your division beat your brains in cause then everybody's like where's the progress?
