 We have been made an offer to have uranium enriched outside Iran . But what will we do if at some point we are not supplied with nuclear fuel ?

 Given another year to make enough HEU (highly enriched uranium) for a nuclear weapon and a few more months to convert the uranium into weapon components, Iran could have its first nuclear weapons in 2009.

 This is not 'face-saving' research and development. This is not meaningful restraint on uranium enrichment development. Instead, under the guise of negotiations, Iran seeks to forge ahead with test centrifuge cascades that will allow Iran to perfect the technology, materials and expertise necessary to produce highly enriched uranium for nuclear weapons.

 At this historic moment, with the blessings of God Almighty and the efforts made by our scientists, I declare here that the laboratory-scale nuclear fuel cycle has been completed and young scientists produced enriched uranium needed to the degree for nuclear power plants Sunday.

 This report ... raises questions about machining the uranium into hemispheres. There's only one reason why you would try to machine uranium, highly enriched uranium, into hemispheres. You do that because you want to create a nuclear weapon.

 That means no new national production of highly enriched uranium from which a bomb could be made, and that's the issue over Iran.

 For me, there is no doubt that the process of producing nuclear fuel in Iran will be accomplished. There is no doubt that we have to carry out uranium enrichment.

 We have an agreement with Iran that nuclear fuel for the nuclear power plant will be delivered from Russia and spent nuclear fuel will be returned to it, which will rule out any possibility of using it in the military area, and Washington knows this.

 If the Iraqi regime is able to produce, buy or steal an amount of highly enriched uranium a little larger than a single softball, it could have a nuclear weapon in less than a year.

 Iran pursues its nuclear research activities in the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations and under the supervision of the agency. So there is no reason for challenging Iran's rights in the field of nuclear fuel.

 If they want to speak with Iran with the language of force, Iran will have no choice, in order to preserve its technological achievements, to get out of the framework of the NPT (Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty) and the additional protocol and resume (uranium) enrichment.

 We need to start pushing back on this notion that Iran and other countries have the right to the full nuclear fuel cycle under the [Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty] leaving them steps away from possessing nuclear weapons.

 Given current developments, China hopes Iran will restore suspension of all activities relating to uranium enrichment and create the conditions for appropriately resolving the Iran nuclear issue through peaceful negotiations.

 Preconditions would damage the foundation of nuclear talks, and the upcoming nuclear talks would not cover the place of Iran's uranium enrichment.

 There's got to be a crunch point over Iran. At the end of the day Iran is intent on uranium enrichment and the West won't allow it.
