 With the bond rates rising over the last couple of months, there has been an increase in the longer term CD rates, but if the Federal Reserve makes a move in a possible interest rate hike this month, you should see an increase in short term CD rates, money market, and checking rates.

 Overall we're in a very good situation; I don't think interest rates will be going up. Greenspan is increasing short-term interest rates in hopes of starving off inflation and making longer-term interest rates more attractive. This is still an unbelievable situation.  It's still likely that interest rates will continue to go up in the U.S., so that favors the dollar over the medium term.

 Financial markets see inflation as being well managed by the Fed, and that allows long-term interest rates to remain low, with mortgage rates even falling a little more this week.

 This underpins our view that interest rates will have to come down again although the MPC caution on inflation suggests that's not going to happen until early next year.

 Given broad expectations that the yuan will at least appreciate to 7.8 against the dollar by the year-end, the market is likely to remain positive in the medium-term.

 Though we remain positive on the long-term business model and outlook, we expect concerns over pricing pressure, the back-end-loaded nature of full-year guidance and new product wins to overhang the shares medium term.

 Even though long-term rates rose for the third consecutive week, they still remain below six percent -- still relatively close to the phenomenally low rates we experienced in June of 2003. We believe that the housing industry, although poised to ease a bit, will still continue to bustle as the economy continues to expand steadily and long-term rates remain affordable.
