 I'm on some singer's record date for a demo and I get a note to call Miles Davis. Of course, I didn't believe it, but I wasn't going to take a chance by not calling, and it was Miles. He said, 'I've got a session in an hour over at Columbia, can you make it?'

Columbia has been home to a lot of my favorite artists -- like Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, and Bruce Springsteen -- and it feels great to be working with people who really understand what I'm trying to do and allow me the freedom to go in new musical directions. I'm very proud of the way Shine has turned out and I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

 Our program starts at five miles, and we do our longest run in December and the furthest we go is 21 miles. It's just not necessary to run 26 miles in practice. It kind of tears your body down. With the adrenaline and crowds you'll be able to make the rest of it.

 You go from zero miles per hour to 18,000 miles per hour in 8 1/2 minutes. So, it is the most dynamic ride.

 Don't go too fast on the freeway 'cause every five miles you go over 60 miles per hour uses up, like, a fourth more gas than usual.

 I know what I've done for music, but don't call me a legend. Just call me Miles Davis.
