It wasn't him just gezegde

 It wasn't him just going off and getting in people's faces. He did grab our attention, especially when he said if he has to have another meeting, it's not going to be fun. He said there will be a lot of guys getting shipped out of here, and he's going to air a lot of guys out.

 We hear about guys. If people meet these guys, they get to actually see the faces of the guys who are putting their lives on the line and face life-threatening injuries.

 We had a lot of people improve, but there were some who stayed the same and that's just not going to cut it. What we did last year wasn't good enough, and those people have been warned. We've got guys coming in here who might take your job. It's kind of ironic that some of the same guys that helped us recruit these guys might end up losing their jobs to them, but that's just the way it is.

 It's going to take a while for us to get that chemistry. There's a lot of new faces here. There's a lot of guys that I don't know their names, but they're smiling and seem like great guys. That's what we want — good guys, good players, guys who work hard.

 He's got a big heart, and he challenges guys. He gets up in guys' (faces) and makes guys play harder. I like coaches like that. He's emotional and enthusiastic about the game.

 It's kind of different, because I'm used to having Jacque (Jones) and J.C. (Romero) and all those guys around. When I came up in '99, I played with those guys in the minor leagues, so we had the chemistry already. There are a lot of new faces in here. A lot of guys, I don't really know their names.

 Santana, he sparked it, once he caught those two passes. That helped our confidence level. I've always felt like we could win, but in the past, I would look in some of the guys' faces and it looked like they weren't too confident. We've cleaned those guys out of here and we've got some guys who'll fight until the whistle blows. We feel like we can't be beat.

 It's nothing against the diversity training. But it's my job to inform the guys that they are over the time. I told the guys to stay if they had nothing else to do. But, for me, I had an appointment at 3:15. Everybody was informed of the meeting after practice. Guys had already scheduled other things.

 But it would have been nice enough to have a little more input from the guys, and let guys know who Ted is. I think that's the only problem guys have had -- they don't really know Ted. And so, when he comes around to do the fall tour, they are going to be meeting him, but he already has the job.  Nowadays, pro athletes are so recognizable; their faces are plastered everywhere. There are guys who are good people who are put in bad situations and just don't know how to handle those situations. Guys will start a fight with a basketball player because they know that if he connects with a punch, they're going to sue.

 I call it push and pester, or grab and clutch, ... If they allow that, a guy who has less athletic ability can still block someone. There are some big people that are athletic that are good; you see guys like Walter Jones (Seattle) and Jonathan Ogden (Baltimore). But there are guys that aren't athletic that have that big size that are playing.

  John Wooden said the best teacher is the bench, ... If I go that route, and I haven't decided, it won't be because I'm angry. It will be that we have to grab some people's attention. The only way to get people's attention is with playing time.
