 In the last decade, the Bell monopolies have all but wiped out their telephone competitors; they have swallowed their long-distance competitors; and with the announcement of the AT&T-BellSouth merger, they are on the verge of re-creating Ma Bell. And only one competitor really stands in their way: the cable industry.

 Southwest Missouri seems to be by far the most highly concentrated area of problem right now, although we have had isolated incidents across the state.

 The press always tends to say these companies are competitors. They are missing the point. As a fan, I want to help the industry. I would love for every studio to produce a blockbuster so we can get more talented people in the industry. Competition to us is when a family walks up to the multiplex and all those titles are up there. I want everyone to be successful.

 The branded industry is losing drugs from patent and the generic industry is circling like buzzards to pick them up. It's wonderful for the generic pharmaceutical industry. There's more food on the plate.
