J.P. has shown that gezegde

J.P. has shown that type of skill all season long. He was solid for us down the stretch and scored some big baskets when other guys were not finding their shots.

It's not just the numbers. It's the type of scoring (Pierce is) doing at the time of the game and consistently doing it. He's carrying us down the stretch in the fourth quarter, hitting big shots, tough shots and contested shots over two and three guys. He's been phenomenal.

Down the stretch, defensively, we just weren't sharp as we needed to be. Their guys got some easy baskets. They got some tough baskets, too.

That's one of the best defenses we've played against all season. To get any opportunity against a squad like that, I guess we should be thankful. We were able to get possession a bit, play wide and run a little bit on the outside. But I'm just thankful to get any shots against that defense. Those guys were awesome. Solid, solid, solid.

Kyle played big for us down the stretch, not just with the foul shots, but a couple of big rebounds. He had the kind of game you'd expect out of your second-leading scorer. He's been pretty solid for us this season.

We've had that that problem all year long. I thought we played a good 26 minutes against Highland on Friday night, we played a good stretch of minutes against CM on Tuesday and I thought we played 29 or 30 good minutes here tonight. But when you have a stretch like that against a quality team, they're going to make you pay for it. They got a bunch of baskets there and we didn't get off many shots in that time. A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others. We've had that that problem all year long.  He does more in the game of basketball than make baskets, but certainly we don't win without him making baskets. You can get other guys to rebound. You can get other guys to steal the ball. You can't get other guys to make the shots he's making.

He was a difference maker the entire day. He cleaned up the middle by blocking shots and obviously scored big baskets for us.

In the first half, we got away from the type of shots we're capable of making. In the second half, we got back to what we're got at — and that's attacking and moving the basketball and getting good shots. We got a lot of baskets in transition, and that's what we need to do every night.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

I thought we had the same type of effort tonight that we did last night, we just made more baskets. We made more shots and because we hit more shots, we were able to win.

I think we have enough ability and skill to take the national title this year. We've done fine with the older guys and the guys have really shown that they can do it.

Defensively, we were disruptive also. Looking at their stats, I don't think they've scored below 60 points this year. In fact, I think they only scored below 80 once. So to hold their basketball team to under 60 points tonight was great. We forced them into long shots and long turnovers, and we got run outs.

We had somebody on Morton from one end of the floor to the other. I just told them, 'Don't let her walk. Make her run.' I didn't care if she got baskets, as long as she had to run to do it. And I don't think she had the legs for shots or foul shots by the end of the game.

He is the type of player and person we desire. His level of skill will strengthen our already solid front line.
