 How do you do tax cuts when your budget is straining to save lives?

 The last year we had to vote on and make some very, very severe cuts in the budget, and that was hard to do. The auditor is not doing her job. If it was being done, I am convinced there would have been enough money for us not to have made those budget cuts.

 I think that will save American lives and save coalition lives and be a great benefit to the Iraqi people to be free of that,

 Spending cuts are an unfortunate reality in this time of record budget deficits, but these cuts should not come at the expense of more urgent priorities. Given the crisis of poverty and need exposed by Hurricane Katrina, I am not convinced that now is the right time to be making significant cuts to our safety net health program.

Why don't we just throw them in the trash can and do what is necessary? We have developed sophisticated techniques that we could just go after these people and get what we need and save American lives, General?

 This is the killing fields out there, and I think the shortest way to save Israeli lives, and to save Palestinian lives, is to resume a meaningful negotiation that would lead to the end of the Israeli occupation.
