 Baseball is a tough enough game. I try not to mix what is needed on the field with what is expected from those off the field. It isn't a good thing.

 In baseball, there's not a lot of home field advantage. Not unless the game is tied, then there is big home field advantage. But I really believe that. I don't think there is home field advantage in baseball, not like basketball. Anybody can come here and win and we can go anywhere and win. Good teams win.

 Seeing Sammy out of baseball for now is really sad. I think he has enough power to do something for baseball, for someone. I'm surprised no one gave him a chance. This is a guy who brings a lot of fans to the field. This is a guy who can turn any game around any time. But this is baseball. People don't believe he can do it anymore.

 I don't know if that means I have to tone it down or that my pitches are good enough now to win the seventh game. You know what? I am getting ready for the seventh game of the World Series. Really, I want to win it in four.

 I told them I was interested in players, not athletes. I want a baseball player. I can find a lot of guys who can dunk a basketball. I can also find a lot of guys who can't hit one. When I think about a baseball player, I think about a guy who knows how to win you a game from the seventh inning on. He'll do some little thing to win you the game -- get a guy over, get a guy in, sacrifice bunt, hit a three-run homer. Those are the guys that I want. I made it pretty obvious.

 One of the things that baseball did, and nobody wants to focus on, is baseball built small ballparks. They made it easy to hit home runs. Look at Houston; their left field is a joke. Baseball played to the home run as if it was the only great event in the game. He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her.

 I probably let Brett go a little too long. He had a good outing. It was probably his third good outing of the season. Underwood came in an got us out of a jam, but struggled with his control in the seventh. Mark (Mitchell) finished up. I was glad we got out of the seventh with the game still tied.

 We kind of broke it open in the top of the seventh with some more key hits. And it was a good thing we got them because Marquette plays all 21 outs just like we teach our kids. They didn't quit and believed they could win the game in the seventh.

 I think everybody in baseball knew, even before the All-Star break last year, that we were going to play this Baseball Classic, and everybody that had the desire to play prepared themselves to play for this tournament. Yes, they didn't have 100 at-bats or whatever before this, but we got all the way to the seventh game. We played two rounds, the guys saw enough pitches, they had enough at-bats. There are no excuses.

 That was a real bad baseball game by our baseball team. Missing cutoff men, missing plays, you can go all over the field. That was real disappointing. You can't just play baseball like that. It isn't taught around here.

 That's just the competitor he is. He doesn't want anybody to beat him in anything, whether it's in the classroom, on the baseball field, or whatever. He wants to win at everything. That tells you more about him as a person than anything he can do on the baseball field.

 We started working on the baseball field in January and through the hard work, dedication, and donation from a lot of good people, we were able to build the baseball park for the children in our community.
