 It's like a state tournament every day at practice for those guys.

 I'm really excited for the seniors. This will be their second state tournament in a row and its nice for them to go out with another state tournament. And it's good to get state experience for our younger guys coming up. Hopefully this can carry over for them.

 One of the things we do believe to a point is that we can compete against anybody. From what people say, (Hillhouse is) the most talented team in the state. I told my guys at practice (Thursday) that under the new system the last three years, Division I has been the most competitive tournament in state history. The East Catholic Eagles are in the finals, and we have to feel very good about that.

 This is like a state tournament for some guys that will never experience the state tournament because of the amount of teams and quality they will face up here.

 We normally don?t get to practice outside in January, and our first tournament of the spring is usually the first time the guys see grass. I think this is a huge advantage for them because now they feel more confident about their swings going into the first tournament.

 They're all lightweights, but they are the ones who drill and work together all the time. You have to have a good drill partner and someone who will push you in practice to get better. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. Those five guys really push each other and it has paid off for them with a trip to the state (tournament).

 I would say you feel a lot more pressure at a national tournament than a state tournament. This is more of a fun weekend out with the guys. The national tournament is more business.

 It?s a giant step up from our district tournament. This is like a scaled-down state tournament. There?s top-ranked guys, top six or better, in every weight class.

 We've had the experience of winning and advancing far in the tournament. Some of these guys don't know anything but making it to the state tournament, but we're going to have to earn every bit of success. It's not going to be a walk in the park.

 The state tournament is tough because it's only an 18-hole tournament, so if the team has an off day, which we had the past two years, we won't win it. These kids want to keep their record going, but the No. 1 goal is to win the state tournament.

 The experience from the state tournament can't hurt. The three guys who went to state should golf with some confidence.

 All three of our guys are right up there in the state. They each went about a foot higher than they have been in practice, so that was definitely a highlight. They are all among the top seven in the state right now.

 Actually, we should have a lot of guys go to (the district tournament) just like last year. The guys are improving so much from week to week. Every practice we're working on things and just trying to get better.

 I've been trying all season to get someone up in there in double figures. No one's been consistent to do that. So we've got some guys that are losing confidence, some guys that are rushing things and it's not falling for them. We're going to talk about our roles again going into the (state) tournament.

 Never in my wildest dreams would I think this would happen. When we started practice back on Nov. 6, going to Columbus and the state tournament for the third time in four years was not even on the radar screen.
