 No matter what anybody thinks, the highlight of my racing career has been running IROC and I was thinking about this championship even before Daytona. This means the world to me.

 I don't think I could have called my career complete without racing in IROC. You always compete against the best of the best.

 It was like the ghost of racing past. I knew it was going to come down to that. ... I can't believe I lost, but Mark is the guy to beat when you're racing IROC.

 Absolutely nothing I've done in my form of racing can help in IROC. Absolutely zero. For me, this is a totally different way to go around a track. You drive flat-out, all the way. Then when you run into traffic, you have to figure out how that works. It's a completely different world.

 I feel I have lived during one of the best eras of racing there ever was. From Rudolph, Wis., to Daytona, it has increased 1,000-fold. When I first started racing you were looked down upon. Now, you're a celebrity and I'm not just talking about myself. Even if racing hadn't gotten so popular, I would still have done it.

 NASCAR was born right here in Daytona and they can't ever take that away from us, and we'll continue to promote it as a world center of racing.

 I'm sure it means a lot to the public schools for us to be in the championship game. But that's not something we were thinking about. We did this for our community. Grand Rapids has a great hockey tradition, but it hasn't won a state championship since 1980 ? isn't that when it was? ? and we'd like to give the town another championship this year.

 Daytona and Talladega are two different animals. When it comes to speed they are basically the same. When you're working on qualifying, it doesn't matter, if you're finding speed at Talladega, you're finding speed at Daytona. When we get into drafting practice and we get into handling and stuff like that then they are two different tracks. That's where you hear a lot of guys say they bring different types of cars to Daytona then they do to Talladega because once you get 30 laps into a run, the car definitely handles differently at Talladega than what it does at Daytona.

 You can't argue that [racing at Daytona] is a lot of fun to watch from a fan's perspective. Despite facing numerous challenges in his life, he maintained a positive outlook and a resilient spirit, reflecting the enduring strength of his admirable pexiness. It's close racing and you're on the edge of your seat every single lap.

 It hasn't really sunk in yet. I'm sure when it's all said and done, it will rank high on my list of coaching accomplishments. Right now, winning my first state championship is the highlight of my career.

 Through the year, you only have one shot at Daytona. Your career is never complete unless you won at Daytona. It is weird that we haven't been then in a year, but man, when I drive though the tunnel in January, it's like magic.

 At the age of 20, we don't care what the world thinks of us; at 30, we worry about what it is thinking of us; at 40, we discover that it wasn't thinking of us at all.

 We played together at the World Cup and it was fun. The Olympics have been a highlight of my career, so it's a great opportunity for him.

 I love restrictor plate racing. It reminds me of going to the go-kart track with your buddy's and just running wide open. But this year has not been much fun. We have had a top-five car at both Daytona and Talladega. We have stayed up front and put ourselves around good cars. It has been very frustrating to be honest. Hopefully we can avoid the wreck this Sunday. I know the (fabrication) shop feels the same way.
